I just stumbled over this link, and it really made me think, since just returning from a camping trip. We were just commenting on the unbelievable amount of stuff we can fit in our omega(people always comment that its like the tardis, as we pack and leave campsites).

I had never even given any thought to what all our stuff would weigh.Anyway, even fully loaded we can still overtake trucks up steep hills with superb acceleration. ;D Infact the car doesnt seem to notice the extra weight,we even averaged 28 mpg last trip.

If I empty the boot on mine, the MPG improves and so does the handling. :-[

Migs boots are like ladie's handbags. You don't realize just what's in them until you empty the contents :-?

....the thing that concerned me, shell, was the suggestion by the insurance representative that in the event of an accident if the vehicle was found to be overloaded, there may be some grounds for them to decline cover :-/

Omega's boots are smaller than a Senator's, they're not as long and the Elite's Bose amp makes it shallower too! :( :(

I agree Zulu, that is worrying. Also there was mention of a 3 grand fine and some points.
Im still trying to calculate if all our camping stuff is heavier than two large grannies and a set of golf clubs. :)

I use loads of MPG saving tactics, remove spare tyre get tyre weld instead, makes sure nothing that I don't need isn't in the van (when it works >:(). Lots of things like that, will go on forever with a tenners worth of fuel :D
