Dave has always told me 4.55.. but I've just seen DaveC post saying it's 4.38
Can anyone confirm for sure?
-
According to http://www.guycroft.clara.net/utils/mpg.html it is 4.546 - could be the difference between imperial and US gallons...
-
4.55
Although for US gallons it's 3.79 litres :D
You can always rely on the imperial system to be completely meaninless and inconsistent ;)
-
Its 4.546 to be exact.
-
This is the litres to gallon, both for the UK and US:
1 gallon, 4.546 litres, 1 US gallon, 3.785 litres
Most people generally round up to 4.55. In my excel spreadsheet for fuel usage (yes I am sad enough to do this!) I use 4.546 in teh formula........
Hope this helps

4.5454 recurring...
if youse all wanna be picky.....
The old Imperial (now UK) system was originally defined by three standard measures - the yard, the pound and the gallon which were held in London. They are now defined by reference to the S I measures of the metre, the kilogram and the litre. These equivalent measures are exact.
1 yard = 0.9144 metres - same in US
1 pound = 0.45359237 kilograms - same in US
1 gallon = 4.54609 litres - different in US
Note particularly that the UK gallon is a different size to the US gallon so that NO liquid measures of the same name are the same size in the UK and US systems.
Also that the ton(UK) is 2240 pounds while a ton(US) is 2000 pounds. These are also referred to as a long ton and short ton respectively, both being distinct from the Metric Tonne, 1000Kg (a shade under 2204 lb 10oz )

Yes you are right Jaime, it appears 4.5454 to recur quite a bit especially on the excel spreadsheet
:y..However and upon doubly checking this appears that it may be down to user error excel :o ;D
