Just done 100 odd miles on the motorway (longest trip since doing hbv)
1/2 a mile from home, Im thinking the car has done well, no gearbox warning, and no coolant topup needed :D
then, up pops Automatic Gearbox, Up pops Coolant warning....temp guage shoots to max, warning light comes on :'(
chuck it in a layby I happen to be passing....
pop the bonnet, and the bottom bulkhead hose has popped off, and im thowing coolant everywhere :'(
i had 2 gallons in the car....so topped it up after reconnecting hose and got home.
Heres hoping there is no more damage :-?
-
:oOh gawd....what a heart stopper!:'(
-
very close james. hope no other damage was done
-
Close, fingers crossed everythings OK.
-
I think you catch in the correct time..or you wont be able to continue..and at least if there was damage even some, the car wont pull like before..
-
Fingers and legs crossed Jb - here's hoping you're in the clear :y :y :y

Good God! If you've broken it Jimbob, it could cost as much as £27.50 to replace. ;D

Hi Jimbob, hope everything is ok with the car, I had similar with the pipe not latching properly on my previous Omega, and as I recall I had to really really push it on hard before it would latch.

Ah, its the car your using to go to Newent. I should have read the whole thread ::)
-
cheers, mine is staying on the drive cheers, going in hers :y
more reliable at the mo, and it has aircon ;D
-
Clean the bulk head pipe off and put a wipe of KY on on it (do you have any?).
Push the hose fitting back on whilst giving a good screw motion.
Then push the latch in.
-
cheers Mark, will have a try at that, sure we have some lube somewhere ::)
-
Ow yes, the heads are ready to strip and sort, 1st and 2nd stage clean and strip has been completed.

excellent :D
honestly thought it was gonna be too late earlier!
if it happened just minutes earlier It would have been VERY hard to stop
-
Cheers, its back together and ok, think it is over pressurising though...
so short journeys only for this one for the mo.
mark, you didnt mention what variety of KY...I used Cherry flavour, is this ok? pushed on a bit more firmly and 'clicked' over the raised bit and locked in place.
took it for a 'spirited run' and it behaved ok, hoses fairly hard though afterwards.
-
might be worth checking for airlocks in it
-
I ran it for ages with no cap on, and burped a bit, so hoping thats sorted :-/
-
think im gonna loosen the header cap as well, keep the pressure down, its not going far, so hopefully not be an issue
