Have just finished watching this ......................about the young soldiers returning from Afghanistan......Whatever your views about the war........these are very brave men..........some with triple amputations yet only nineteen years old.

Yep, it is painful viewing and I just cannot image how much they are going through! :'( :'( :'(
Ironically it is only because of the great advances in battle field medical care and the follow up treatment that many of these poor sods are still alive. In another age many more would die! :'( :'( :'( :'(

Mrs Andy B was in tears watching it. Some of the injuries of these very young lads were horrific.

Afghanistan is a damn swamp..
and many locals there living primitive ages with primitive heads.. :-/
unless these problems are solved, no matter how many soldiers from many countries you sacrifice, it will still be same.. :(

Half way through it, my wifes in pieces and to be honest im not far behind.
That poor lad who's lost both his legs and possibly his sight, god, you just want this stupid 'conflict' to end tomorrow.
I hope to God all those spineless suits in Westminster are watching it, but I seriously doubt it. They're all out Sha**ing rent boys on their/our expenses.
This program shows how great we are as a nation but also how crap we are as a nation!!!!
God bless all our brave men and boys out there. We all appriciate what your doing, even if some of us (me included) have no idea what your doing there!!!!

Just finished watching this .The strength of character of these young lads is incredible.It makes me feel ashamed when I think of the trivial things that I moan about in life. :'(

In my previous job I had the honour of meeting some of these guys, and carrying them "down the back" of the flying truck, sometimes with full emergency medical teams. The attitude and downright courage was humbling to say the least .. even in pain and knowing what was to come .. they were upbeat, resilient and showed no regret or despair :y :y :y
I compare them with some of the low-life scum I meet in the present job and I sometimes wonder just what is going wrong.
The world seems be polarising more and more into extremes with no "normal" centre

I watched in slack-jawed admiration; brave, decent young men with such mental-strength and unflinching loyalty to their Regimental 'mates'......what exemplars of the human spirit!

the London bombings and 911 seem very distant memorys now.... Our troops arent getting govt. support as far as i can tell? Media Reports the U.S. are far better equiped in IED detection, is that the case ? Does anyone know for certain?

well i for one wouldn't like iran holding all the cards when the oil runs out - we need a base in iraq and afghanistan, its unthinkable if we didn't have control of the oil - now sad as it is, you can't tell me these guys don't know being a soldier involves following orders (whether you agree or disagree) and being shot at(one of the reasons i didnt join the forces was precisely these 2 issues). i think you're all being a bit patronising feeling sorry for them - thats the last thing they'd want - sorry but war is hell as someone once said, and these guys know the risks and are trained to deal with them, unlike the 100,000s of civilians killed by war across the world - its all a matter of perspective

I don't think anyone is "feeling sorry" for them..... its more a case of downright admiration for their courage and attitude.
Virtualy every military person I have ever met (and thats quite a few after 38 years in uniform) has known and accepted the risk of dying, but I'm pretty sure very few ever actually thought how they would react if not killed but seriously injured.
I, for one, never did, and I'm pretty certain I would not be able to behave like those guys last night. I'd like to say I would .. but the reality is I probably would not. :-[ :-[ :-[
I'd probably be in the corner blubbing and feeling sorry for myself. :-[ :-[ :-[ or contemplating the "other" way out .. but probably wouldn't have the guts to do that either...

i doubt you'd be feeling sorry for yourself, but you're right - maybe our men and women in the forces truly do not think about being disabled, but accept the fact they may die in the line of duty - i guess no-one fully looks at the consequences or else you would never have anyone joining the military, the fire service, volunteering on RNLI etc or maybe they do face up to them and, knowing the risks (maybe subconsciously) they still step up to the plate - thats bravery
