Doesn't effect the race - one of the best this season.

A diffent title would not have told us the result though Martin.  Which to be fair needs to be changed then people at least HAVE THE CHOICE to know the result.

excellent job all season, congrats JB  :y

ps any true f1 fan would have moved heaven and earth to watch it live - if i had to record it, the last thing i'd do is look at the net or switch on the tv or the radio so i'd doubt you've spoiled it for any real fans   :y

It is possible though that due to circumstances they couldnt watch it live, and they may log on to OOF knowing that up to now it was always considered polite and good forum etiquette to put "F1 spoiler" in the title of a thread discussing the race that day. :y

a further result give away at the bottom of this post.

must say Martin, a little consideration perhaps?
Came in late, f1 on, good race at the start, turned a bit boring, quick browse on oof on me wifi phone, and there it is, staring me in the face.

Exactly the sort of thing i would do, and have done in the past ;D, easy done in the excitement.

Anyway, good race, good result, fantastic effort from Brawn. Not many teams will win the constructers and drivers titles in their first reason. Awesome. :-)

The first request to change the title was made 4 hours before you posted this Chris, had it been heeded you wouldnt have had to post at all. ::)

Great result for the guys - they have worked hard for it  :y

I can see where people are coming from regarding the thread title, but when I have missed the race and don't want to know the result I go out of my way to avoid spoilers. I am not sure what people were expecting to see in this thread 10 mins after the race finish... other than the result! But a spoiler alert in the title is always a good idea.

Possessing zero knowledge about any form of sporting activity could disqualify me from justifiable comment but I find it difficult to see how a driver who wins only 6 of a possible 17 races is considered to be a 'World Champion'. :-/ :-/

I stand to be corrected of course ;D :y

Yeah!  Only about 20 drivers start each race.  Elite Pete was decorating but where was everyone else?  :D

You might as well sit down now Zulu77.

I was pleased to see that Jenson pulled out all the stops to make a show of it.  It would have been very disappointing if he had just 'let it happen'.

I loved Kovalainen's tactic of firing petrol at Raikkonen from a big water pistol!  Not very subtle though.

;D ;D Thanks Chris I don't know why I can't understand these things - maybe I was hit on the head as a child - but I'll have to bow to your knowledge  :y :y

I'm still clueless all the same :-[

no no, of course you may not be able to weatch live - but in that case i wouldn't go near the net or any media - i've had results ruined by jumping in the car on the way home and the radio spouts the result before you've had a chance to switch off....i'm therefore anally paranoid  ;D ;D

err...because he gathered more points than every other driver in the world title race?  ::)
lewis won 5 races last year and took the title, raikkonen had 6 wins the year before - just an indication of the healthy competition theres been in the last 3 years  :y

And in 1982 Keke Rosberg took the title with only one win. There were 2 drivers who (iirc) won more then one race but Villenueve was killed before he could win any more races or score any more points, and his team mate Pironi, had a huge accident in practice in Germany and broke both legs in dozens of places and never drove an F1 car again.Rosberg was very consistent scoaring a lot of 2nd and 3rd places throughout the season, so took the title.

...that sounds quite reasonable bj but I thought being a champion was about winning an event over others, not a quest to accumulate points :-/ :-/

I'm not creating over this, I just don't get sport - if you are competing surely the aim is to win the event and not participate in such a way that the the points gained assume greater importance than victory?

Aaachhh I've confused myself now >:( :-/ :-/ :-/

Its not a single event though Zulu, its 17 seperate events over the coarse of a season,so its the person who has the best results over the 17 events who is champion.its like that in almost every form of motor sport. As for other forms of sport - they are all sh1te so no need to worry how they work. :y ;D ;D

Zulu77.  There would be a problem if a different driver won each of the 17 races wouldn't there?  So we need a tie-breaker as with elections.

Or think of it as one big event broken down into 17 stages in different countries in the world  - hence world champion...........your even more confused now,I can tell. ;D ;D
