Title: Hydrovane compressor problem
Post by: mantahatch on 23 October 2009, 17:06:01
Hi All, to cut a long story very short my hydrovane compressor through a hissy fit last night and dumped its oil over the floor, right in the middle of a job.

At the time I had little choice, and for my sins, an amount of Vauxhall semi synth oil went in so we could finish the job. It worked ok, but I am well aware this oil should not be in there and I am about to drain it out.

Does anyone no if wether I should run an oil flushing agent through it ? or just do a number of quick oil changes using the proper Hydrovane oil ? but please bear in mind this stuff is not cheap.

Many thanks all advice greatly appreciated.

i think you need to find out why it dumped all it's oil first otherwise it will only do it again if the problems not rectified.

You should be OK just draining it, but i would leave it to drain out over night to make sure you get as much out as possible though.
