Title: Todays list of people
Post by: TheBoy on 20 October 2009, 20:36:36
Forgetting the usual idiots I have to deal with day in day out, todays list of people sent to piss me off include:

o2 - morons cut my phone off.  They sent me an email a week ago, but to an email address they made up for me on o2.co.uk. Knowing I wouldn't know the details of this, they emailed me the email details to that email address. Tossers.

Dabs - Brand new bit of kit is faulty. They won't swap it, it has to go back to them, they test, then send out replacement. 7-10 days. Pillocks.

HP - Proliant server has a suspected hardware fault. I had the serial number, but stupid bint wanted Product ID.  She said they were 24/7 so could take details any time tonight. Get home, phone up HP, spoke to someone else, sadly she couldn't speak English, so promptly hung up after I gave her some details. Called up again, and the bloke said I was only allowed to report this server fault between 8 and 5.

I stopped using ebuyer regularly as they are also appalling. As are scan, aria, bluepoint and all those other crap outfits.  Sad state of affairs when I decide to choose Misco :o

This sod just powers down and back up randomly.  Only logs are iLO2 logs - server reset, power removed, power applied.  Been trying all last night and all tonight to copy a 40G file to it, rather thing  >:(

Yeah, this is fresh out of the box.  I expect better than 'post it back, and we'll let you know in 7-10 days'.

There is a bit more history behind this particular order, in that they managed to spectacularly screw it up in the first place - and screw up my brothers credit card in the process (which was a bummer for him, as he was on hols in Italy last week, wondering why his card no longer worked ::))

I've been there today too. Cobbled together a working machine with all my old data in the end, fortunately, but the errant machine which spat its' dummy out, is sitting in the corner, wondering if I'm going to repair it, sammy it, or practice my welding on it. [smiley=evil.gif]

i find the list of things, people and organisations that actually say and do what they should reliably grows smaller by the day. BS and incompetance are the norm. IME....

A simple task via phone call turns into 3 or 4 other phone calls later on to sort it out. It is rife. However each f*** up is an opportunity for compensation.

I earned 10 quid today, when my bank sent me 40 odd letters of 6 years worth of statements, when i actually asked for a list of 6 years of bank charges. Muppets.

Today's update:

Dabs - no change, I have chosen for my own stress levels never to speak to these idiots again.

HP - thanks single handedly to a single sales manager prepared to own the issue, and actually get things moving their end, HP have a reprive.  Obviously, tomorrow is another day, and time will tell if this server will be fixed tomorrow or Friday (I have an assurance that by Friday PM, either the server will be working or every single electronic item in the server will be replaced).

O2 - well, unsurprisingly, once again, these useless liars have not done as promised and called me to sort out their billing balls-up. Utterly useless bunch of pointless idiots  >:(.  When you're on the phone to these pillocks, you cannot help but ponder out of 10,000 sperm in an ejaculation, how the hell that particular one was the fastest  >:(

Well Aria are on my hitlist tonight.

just tried to order a motherboard (Finally got roundto it) and a hard drive.  They work out £10 cheaper (Even with carriage on) than ebuyer for the same 2 items, added a 1.5 TB Spin Point as well.

7 attempts for them to have my money.

break em, me thinks ebuyer can have the extra tenner if the ordar wont go through 1st thing in the morning. :(

Gave up with aria years ago - I reckon they had some corrupt staff, or were just conmen.  Number of orders I received where a high value item (cpu/memory in those days) missing, and they would deny it.

Had a run in with them over a graphics card a few years ago.

Package was damaged, no card in there, made a claim, they as good as told me to break off, I ousued the claim and they calmly told me I should never have accepted it.

Well you know what city link are like, the hold the damage out of sight untill signed for.

Took 6 months, all they had to do was check my signature that had my name singned and printed withe the woed UNCHECKED next to it, as soon as they saw it they paid up,   tossers. >:(

Used them quite a lot untill they went bust a few years ago, treated them as dodgy since.

I was fortunate a few years ago.

Bench mark (6 miles)
Computer Trading (4 miles)
Choice (7 miles) (now ebuyer)
Extreme Computers (1 Mile)
Enfine Computers (5 Miles)

All big advertisers in computer mart a few years ago were all on my door step, and with the money I was spending with them got quite some interesting discounts, and knew most of the owners.

That was the good old days when there was a few quid to be eart in building computers.

Plus Scan, Aria, Novatexh, Mesh and many more. going back to the days of the 286 and daiy chained hard drines.  When a 1 mb 30 pin simm was £80  :o

Got one to add to the list today. Megaman, for subtly changing the design of their 7w GU10 low energy bulbs so they don't fit in my kitchen light fittings any more. >:(

...and not making them shock proof so that when you drop them on a tiled floor whilst dicking about trying to get them to fit, they break and can't be returned to B&Q. >:( >:(

That's disgusting,  really is, not making unbreakable bulbs.  I had a change a bulb earlier.  Had to nick one out of the hall, rather thing dint want to come out.  plus it's the 2nd bulb to have gone in 4 months, one of them was an engery saving phillips bulb, is that how they save engy , they just blow after 2 months.   :-/

Fortunately the outer didn't break, just the tube inside. I'm sure I can remember playing with blobs of mercury on a desk when I was at school. ::)

Mind you, we used to cook sausages using only 2 nails and a 13 amp plug. :-X

Dabs - no further dealings thank god

HP - fully reprived - new system boards, PSU and CPU fitted by their engineer. Touch wood, been up since lunchtime

O2 - 2 more lies told to me - a) I could still call them on 202 from phone when its barred (thats 'dangle berries'); b) still waiting for yesterday's callback. And today's callback. *sigh*

HP - Server still running, all is good again in the world.  Might have to arrange another 12G ram to go in it, already getting tight on the 12G in there.  I'm pretty impressed performancewise

O2 - they too have pulled it out of the bag, so well done to them, and phone working. Shame it had to go that far.

The only network that existed in my school was the bunsen burners!

By blowing down the gas taps you could get them to go out one by one, then fill the room with town gas.

had more success with sausages using a car battery and a nail ::)

Depends on the impedance presented by the sausage, I guess.

school must be boring now ;D

Yeah, I hear the spoilsports even have security on their computer networks now. Oh, the mischief you could inflict on a network of Link 480Zs. ;D

Kevin
The only network that existed in my school was the bunsen burners!

By blowing down the gas taps you could get them to go out one by one, then fill the room with town gas.

Precious days those!  ;D

They used to hide the Bunson Burners at our school but  left the gas taps active, someone used to fill ballons up with gas and set light to them behind people.

And HP had the option to redeem themselves, but rather spectacularly failed.  They are coming out tomorrow.

Proliant ML330 G6, taken out of box a week last Friday, and they have already had to replace system board, cpu and psu.  Tomorrow, they are changing the array card.

Why don't they just replace it?
A very good and valid question that hadn't escaped me.

The official answer from HP - "We can, but it takes a couple of weeks, as we don't have servers and have to go out into the retail channel to buy them"

So they've got the parts to replace one at a time but not a whole server? FFS are they incapable of assembling one with the pile they have? Morons ;D ;D

They'll soon be uttering the words that once caused my jaw to impact the desk when dealing with the Gateway technician muppet. "it must have been the case, because when I put the lid back on it started working". :o
