Post by: mr miggy on 04 November 2009, 20:15:29

It's missing at least 2 pots, it started life as a GLS (and still is), and it's had more than enough mods to get your insurance company racking the extra's on to your premium.

A dealer would punt it at £895 if it was completely standard and looking brand new, so it certainly isn't worth the £950 the vendor thinks it is IMO.

About right price (dealer) maybe a tad over priced for a W plate GLS (lowest spec).

what mods does it have??? i cant see any apart from the springs....
i emailed the seller and asked why it was lowered, and he said that it needed 2 rear springs for the mot, so he put lowered ones on as the set of 4 were the same price as a pair of standard.

Sounds a lot to me with the miles on-seen better facelifts at the money and this one looks tired.

Saw a very tidy 95k 2002 CDX bid and sold at £1400-well worth the £600 difference  :y

£950? Sod that, i looks like a bloody shed with wheels. Appalling body work, with that nasty combination of colours.

Its the oldest facelift with the smallest engine and lowest spec, for that money i would want a mint Elite.

IMO worth about £500

nice... :oi thought this was a forum of omega lovers.......
my father has afacelift on a V plate so that is older than this one.

and what is a bit of paint.......i went and saw this car about an hour ago and it really is in good condition (bar the bumpers need painting) and runs as smooth and as quiet as you like.....

the seller is a honest bloke too from what i saw tonight, and i am contemplating getting the car and getting the bumpers painted...

You asked for opinions and got them, at the end of the day the choice is yours. :y
I have an Omega Estate that is in far better condition that this one, not a facelift, and would be delighted to get this sort of money. As I can't it sits as a spare car.... :)

even so.

i would like to have my account deleted from this forum, as i really dont see why the car had to be slated.... everybody has to start somewhere.

i am a member of other forums, both in the vauxhall community and other makes, and this is the first time that i feel like the commumity is rude and unfair.

enjoy your site fellas :y, i wont be back.

sorry you feel that way Mr Miggy.  I have to agree though that it's not worth that much money. £500 and live with the paint maybe, but there are better out there,

Hmm seller in disguise maybe?
Didn't get the opinion he wanted so he threw a strop, or is it just sensitive week again?

You asked for an opinion on the car, the opinion was that it was not worth the asking price as there are plenty of Omegas out there that are either?

1) Similar condition/spec but less money

2) Better condition/spec for similar money.

If you didn't like the comments from people who really know this model of car and its value, then you should not have asked for it in the first place  :y

Bizarre-what's the point of asking, then  :-/

Granted, some responses were a bit sharp, but in the end they gave the advice he asked for.

Oh, well-if he wants to buy it, it's up to him  ;)
A client just picked up a tidy silver 86k 2000 GLS for £750-needs an exhaust and only short MOT but puts it into context  :y

I think it was the seller too, trying to get extra people to look at it. Wonder if he liked my shed comment?  ::)

He asked for our advice, we gave it, did not like it? Why bother in the first place.

If that had been in the gallary, i would not make such harsh comments, but to a potential buyer, who is maybe new to the Omega, they need to know there are MUCH better examples out there.

.....some of Mr Miggy's first threads.

Looking at this, Mark already owns the car in the listing which he asks about in this thread, with exactly the same faults he has asked advice for himself on here-and which have not been resolved.  It appears to have been posted to improve publicity, but backfired.

He has said he is terminating his account....surprised moderators did not beat him to it

Is there a better explanation for this?  Or did it just backfire?
Am I just a cynic?
