All insurance companies give you a nice price the first year when you are new business, just pick the phone up and do "new" business with another company if you want the price to stay where it should be.

Eh???

Your NCB is transferable, you take it anywhere you like because YOU have EARNED it.

i thought the fact i have i have seven years still is because i pay to protect it with tesco and if i went anywhere else because ive had a claim they will take it as 0 no claims

nope...  your extra premium protected the no claims.  you take it elsewhere alongwith proof of that payment and you get a reduced rate at the new insurer....

I take it your under 25 with that renewal quote.....Have you tried MoreThan.
I have had good dealings with them over the past year for all of my insurance.

From your profile you state that your 35 and with 7 years no claims can't see how you are being quoted 1100 unless there's a few points and bans lurking on your licence ::) ::) ;)

I rang directline to declare my 19" snowflakes as a modification and got stung with paying an extra £300 a year. Doubled my insurance cost's, but the car looks sweet.... Worth every penny!!!!!  :y

You must be mad. £300 a year for alloys. In three years you'll have paid enough to buy a half decent omega.

got a few quotes and the best £695 my renewal is £509.more than was £1150,im 35 with 7 years protected ive a claim from sept thats not settled yet because these 5mph impacts really do create some horrific back and whiplash injuries and i think she is also claiming for broken knicker elastic and i got a sp30 back in april 3 points but i heard that just 3 points doesnt affect your premium could be wrong

I used to pay £285 on a 2002 3.2 elite with declared stainless exhaust, now pay £571 with exhaust and 19" wheels.. A big price to pay, but if I crash (touch wood) I'm totally covered with a pay out, didn't fancy taking the risk not declaring the moods!!!! It's also a like for like wheel replacement, and there nearly £3,000 from vauxhall new.  :'( :'(

It is not too often that we can say it is good to be old!

Between the ages of 50 and 55 is the cheapest insurance, we are the  safe drivers!

Hercules,

I am 34, have 2 years ncb (not protected), 3 points, 1 crash in a company car last year (not my fault) and have my 2.5TD Elite insured for business use for 27,000 miles per year.

With 'More Than' I pay £545 yearly. I live in Boston which is pretty high on the stolen car hit list areas so cannot work out why your having your pants pulled down to such an extent :-? :-?

One thing I will say, and I do bang on about this I know, but make sure you go through www.quidco.co.uk, you may get yourself a few quid back, well worth it. :y :y
