Title: Markey Mark update.

I've just spoken to him on the phone & am now able to divulge a little more. In a nutshell it's looking like the end of a long marriage & 3 kids. He's not allowed in his own house & staying at a mate's with no internet access. He can go on facebook via his phone but can't get onto OOF, can't get into his house or garage so apologies on his behalf for those who are understandably miffed at not receiving parts they've paid for. I know this doesn't help folk who are waiting but at least now you have some sort of explanation.
    Please bear in mind the bloke does'nt even know whether he can keep his house or how his future lies. Life deals us all a rough hand at times. We will try to put things right as soon as we can.
    He's having to sell his Mig as well which he took ages looking for & then making it his own. It's a silver 3.0 MV6 manual estate (rare) With Irmy bodykit & massive wheels. Loads more, he's gutted to let her go bgut that's the way it is. He won't be enjoying the chrimbo most of us are looking forward to.

Guy, thanks for the update.  sorry to hear things are not looking so good for the fella.....

If its any help, he can get good web/internet access via his local library to the likes of citizens advice and other help fora (including OOF...  ;)) should he need to contact anyone personally about his situation.   :y

As said via PM, the chap needs to inform folks personally, as best as possible, as to his future intentions.

Without sounding too heartless, his slack is already cut, as per my PM to you and he, and it appears MM needs to tidy OOF loose ends, as well as others.  Cash in from one place = cash out to others, and all that....

I'm sorry to hear all that Guy... Regardless of the feelings with peoples orders etc, it's never a good situation to find yourself in, especially at this time of year :( :( :(  Sympathies to Mark at this troubled time

Thanks for the info. Guy although i had heard from him via Facebook and did know something of his situation although not to what extent but did tell Mark that i would respect his privacy and not divulge anything :-X.
 I do as i dare say most on hear hope he manages to sort something with his Wife for the sake of his Family especially at this time of year, but whatever the outcome wish him the best:y.

Fair comment Broocie albeit a tad clinical. I have to admit in his position (i have been) my last thought would be visiting a library to answer questions on a few parts when my head's up my a**e & working silly shift hours. I understand folks feelings if they hav'nt recieved parts they've paid for & also appreciate your position as an admin representing the forum & it's members but have a little compassion please.
    Once again i'll personally reimburse any members that need thier money returned if they can't afford to wait which i quite understand...no hard feelings to any of you & apologies for any inconvenience. Guy.

Not a nice place for MM to be at any time -- even worse as christmas looms. I can fully understand that OOF n( with respect to the members) will be very low on the radar at the moment.

Would it be an idea for those members owed money to contact H21 to say whether they are willing to hold fire in the circs, and if all agree, the matter can be put on hold for an agreed time.  If they are not happy they can, as offered, get a refund off Guy and the matter put to bed.

Just a thought.

Heart goes out to the guy, I too was at the end of a long relationship exactly 10 yrs ago this week and it destroyed my Christmases for about 4 years after that too......

However, in my opinion, this guy has other peoples car parts/money and really needs to sit down and sort it out, sooner rather than later.....

He wasnt too stressed/busy to be taking other peoples money, so he cant be too stressed/busy to sort it out.......

Just my opinion........!!

I agree Webby, I feel sorry for the guy, but wasn't he saying on bookface that he enjoyed his night out on the lash, he has time for this etc but not to sort out people's stuff that they've bought from him out. I don't know him but he has taken people's money without an issue  :-/

Never a good time for a marriage to fail .. and with kids involved Christmas is probably the worst time .. :(

The stress is probably pretty high, and the odd "night off" to get lathered is IMHO allowed.

From my dealings with the guy he was always honest and upfront, although sometimes needing a little push to complete his side ....

Given the promises made by an obviously genuine friend (and there are too few of those around these days) I think everyone should be satisfied .... eventually.

It might just take a wee while... time in which we can all be glad we are not going through what he is.

Guy .. next time you speak to him pass on my best wishes please.. :)

HOWEVER.....!!

This guy has took other peoples money and is holding it without sending goods/giving refunds....

That to me, personally, makes him no better than any of the rip off merchants crawling around Ebay at the moment....

I think the whole "big family problem" thing is being pushed a little too far here, he owes people a personal apology and he needs to get his arse into gear and get this mess sorted out.....

In reply to those whom are not happy with Marky mark and thier outstanding debt.  He emailed me as soon as he had problems with getting access to the OOF and asked me to forward a message to Admin as soon as he knew he had issues, this was before I was rushed into hospital.

The guy has issues and has tried to explain.

So, as well as Guy I am prepared to put my money where my mouth is and help out with the offer of refunds for those members who feel aggitated with the current situation.

I will chat with Guy as it is silly to deal with multiple refunds with multiple parties.  As long as proof of payment is available and Guy can confirm with Mark then I am happy to support Mark during his current troubles.

Tis the season of Goodwill, so give the guy a chance and accept a refund in good faith or have the Seasonal Good Spirt and put some faith in Mark honouring his offers of selling parts.

Before his current problems he had a fantastic reputation on the forum for supplying good quality parts at good prices,and doing good work on peoples cars for not a lot of money.So it is probably safe to assume that his problems have turned his life upside down and rendered him unable to presently function in the way he previously did.
I think anyone who is owed money etc, and hasnt dealt with him before and built up a significant level of trust with him should take Guy and Skruntie up on their very generous offer and then let the subject lie until such time as Mark hopefully is able to come back and provide us all with the great service and support that he has always previously provided. :y

He sold me 4 brand new Dunlops last summer for less than the price of one,then liased with Guy to arrange to have them brought to a meet not far from me so I could collect them.Rip off merchants dont do things like that. ;)

Are there any bits that people have ordered from Mark that are critical? IE - Omega wont function without / not safe to use? If so, drop me a PM as I’m breaking an Omega at the moment and if I can help by posting an item on Marks behalf, then so be it (bearing in mind the Omega I’m breaking is 15 mile up the road from me, so only have limited access to it).

As it actually happens, I'm waiting for a few bits and bobs from Mark myself - However they’re not overly important. Last time I spoke to him I know he was in the shit big time, and therefore I said to him that I would get them whenever (its only a cam belt cover for a kit car project anyway and a couple of other bits!)

Saturation time, unfortunately, has been reached as regards MarkeyMark and his assorted outstanding transactions.  We have have a varied past on OOF with various sellers of parts who have failed to deliver and MarkeyMark features highly on that list, most probably because he was the most prolific breaker.

Whilst its appreciated that we all have problems and complications from time to time which restrict or prevent us from carrying out our normal lives, all must consider that this also works both ways.  There are a number of forum users who have parted with monies in good faith on the run up to Christmas in order to keep their cars on the road and have received no goods in return, forcing some to purchase elsewhere, doubling the cost.....

In order to avoid MarkeyMark perhaps becoming more embroiled in new transactions it has been decided that all his current sales threads are locked and his postcount reduced to one.  This prevents him creating new threads in the for sale section but still allows him to receive and send PM's to resolve outstanding problems with OOF members.  Banning is the next option.....

I would ask that any and all who currently have an outstanding dispute with MM to PM me directly so that the dispute post can be kept upto date.

The outcome of this will be in MarkeyMarks hands, no one else's, despite his friends rallying round to assist him - as all good mates should in times of crisis.

This thread will be locked and placed as a sticky so that MM can easily read it, if and when he decides to.

Does Mark owe you parts or money?

If not then why antagonise the situation?

I disaapeared without warning for 3 weeks, would have hated to have owed some of you parts or refunds.  Sad place when there is little or no support from some of the forum members after they were made aware of situations.

Looks like, in Durham, by the time I go back to work the snow will have gone. And a possible white Christmas, just the excuse I need not to go to the in laws...... :y :y
