Title: Uh, where'd the other forums go?
Post by: theolodian on 24 March 2007, 16:51:12
Is it just me?  Only getting the first set of forums.  Would have put this in the forum problems section but it isn't there!

Now they're back, must be typical browser issues.  ::)

Did try reloading several times before.  :-?

It seems to be tricky to get Safari to do a full refresh of the page.  If it gets it wrong once it can be several refreshes before it fixes the problem.  In this case I had to leave the page and come back.  Still, less frustrating than IE7.  FF2 on Windows is better in some ways and worse in others.  Maybe I need to try FF2 on the Mac.

Am I the only person who doesn't have problems with IE6 or 7?

I never had real problems with IE6.  The odd scrambled pic or page, but Safari does that too.  Figured that was just the Internet being wonky.  With IE7 I can't download files intact, and pages are often trash.

Vista adds a new wrinkle where you can't use online forms.  Any long number like a frequent flier account number and it tries to make it into an international phone number that it wants you to call.  Completely useless for any sort of database drive website or online business system.  Utter tossers!

I am running IE7 and since the forum has gone over to the new server have had problems finding the wanted and gatherings. If been browsing say the newbies, then try to get to the gatherings, could not find any of the 'bottom' selections.

If going straight to the gatherings or wanted then to the 'top' selections i only keep to the bottom selections. Have found that by going t the top and selecting Home all the selections come back.

Just thought this was another added feature with the new server. :o

The server should make no difference - its still crappy apache running on crappy linux.  The forum software is identical.

I am unable to replicate this with IE7 on Vista.  My XP machines are still IE6.

Is it IE7 under XP that is problematic?

Just did it again.  Left the site and came back and it was OK.

I think we should switch to https, probably better tracking of packets.  :P

We ain't going for https for a number of reasons. Namely, I ain't paying for the cert, and it will be slower as well....

IE7... bl**dy horrible bug ridden waste of a browser!  >:(

I gave up on it!

IE6 is both stable and quick. I'll look at IE7 again in a year or so, they may have fixed it by then...

I never have any problems with this site using Safari......  unless Jaime Spills his beer in the server .......

what occasionally catches me out though is the layered navigation of the site....

when I click on "General Omega chat" by accident when moving upwards from the " General Chat " forum layer,  instead of clicking on "Omega Owners Forum "     ...  when I want to move to the top layer to look at the other sections ........

i have momentarily wondered where it all went.... before realising my mistake.....

Which version OSX and Safari are you running theo?   and what's your ISP?
