Post by: pscocoa on 21 January 2010, 23:50:10
Trying to find someone to fix a Ronson Varaflame lighter - I think missing some sort of spring.

Strikealight at Gateshead is only one I know and they just advised unable to do it due to illness. Any contacts?

No particular hurry - trouble is they do not say how long they think it will be - I have to wait until they contact me to send unit to them.

I will see what happens in a week or so.

I remember the day when working in the tobacconist trade in my early years that many of our branches had boxes of Ronson lighter spare parts.  However, like loose tobacco and the selling of single cigarettes, it is all gone apart from maybe at very specialist outlets! :(

Matches present a health and safety issue - Council guidelines - must have 2 people in attendance at all times plus fire blanket and extinguisher within 6 feet - I mean 2 metres.

Seriously - I do not smoke - the lighter is my father's who is 89 in March - he smokes 8 to 10 cigars a day and drinks at least one Guinness every afternoon. As the lighter was a gift I felt obliged to get it repaired. He is using matches for now - without supervision I have to add.
