If you have Realplayer SP, run it, go to the 'tools' tab.
Click on the tab, and a drop down menu appears. At the bottom of the menu, click 'preferences'.
This brings up a dialogue box. On the left side is a series of menus.
At the very bottom, should be a line marked 'Download & recording'. click on this line. This should open a menu box on the right side of the panel.
In this box, are the settings you need to set up.
The  'save to' box is where you save clips to. (leave as it is, it shouuld be OK)
Next there is a line marked 'enable web download and recording from these installed browsers' and a small box, with your current browser's name next to it. (IE8, or whatever) ensure there is a tick in this box.
Click OK, and exit Realplayer.

This should now show the 'download this video' popup when you run the mouse over the youtube video, and you can then click on the poput to record it to the chosen location.

Hope this helps  :y

Why are you even f**king about with Realplayer?

Install K-Lite Mega codec pack (after uninstalling RP, and restarting for the registry changes to take effect), and snag anything you want no matter what it's format.

If you can't get to grips with the functionality that K-Lite offers and you still want those Youtube vids (or indeed any video from any kind of flash based hosting site), then visit Keepvid.com and save them in MP4 format.

Failing that, ANYTHING you view in your browser will be on your hard drive anyway (just ask Gary Glitter), it will be in the browsers cache.
