Title: Tesco Clubcard
Post by: Squealey on 05 February 2010, 21:47:40
Ok, I just want to start by saying I have no relation to anything Tesco, I rarely shop there tbh (Asda is closer).

But, for christmas this year I had the usual what do you want questions from my folks. My answer was some money to put towards me and swmbo to have a couple of days away. We need a break, we have 5 kids and never get the chance to just sit back and chill as a couple. Nothing flash, nothing abroad. We didn't really want to be more than a couple of hours away should we be needed.

So my mum came up with a suggestion, what about if we give you our Tesco clubcard vouchers then you exchange them for a hotel. Had a look and saw that for every £10 on your card, you get £40 in your chosen vouchers.

Got my brother to do the same so I had well over £200 of vouchers.

Now I've booked my Ramada Jarvis (won't tell you where as it will open me up for ridicule) for a Friday & Saturday night at the end of Feb with £170 of vouchers, then the first night I have £30 in Pizza Express (only have to pay for drinks) and Saturday I have £30 in Bella Italia. (Glad we like Pasta ;D ;D)

I know this seems like im blatantly advertising, but you only seem to hear of the bad side of companies these days, this seems like quite a bargain to me and as im sure some of you may have read my previous posts about me being skint and out of work yada yada yada, so we would never have got the chance to do this in the short term.

Must admit, I can't blooming wait.

Wayne

I have no personal axe to grind with tesco as they saved me and my family a fair wodge on the christmas drinky poos....

Standard individual price, circa £170.00

Offer price (three for a tenner, bogof etc) £100 approx.

Add in vouchers from fuelling company cars at the local Tesco since Easter last year - £17.50 cash...

Last time I stayed in that brand of Hotel, its all a bit of a blur.  Vaguely recall getting ratarsed, and ending up in some dubious club in Leicester until 3 or 4am...

Guess again Jaime, although we did look there, this is a (little) bit further afield.

Last time I stayed in a Ramada was my works xmas do in Redbourn (nr Hemel) and no word of a lie I woke up freezing in the hotel corridor having, ahem, wet myself, at 6am, stumbled back to my room (after getting another key from a very amused receptionist) to find all my belongings scattered across the room and my glasses smashed to smitherins. I honestly have no recollection of that night.

That was before I met the missus, no chance of that this time, I hope ;D ;D ;D ;D

I get a Top Gear subscription using Tesco vouchers, good for family days out.

As the manager of Flambards told Sue, it is national advertising for free.

I've been considering signing up to Tesco & our local co op but somehow never got round to it. You've inspired me to get off my a*se & do it. We all spend enough in these stores so why not?
Hope you both enjoy your well earned break, Guy. :y
