Title: Avoid Gumtree.com if you can
Post by: Del Boy on 15 February 2010, 21:24:25
It's giving one of the most annoying viruses going at the minute. Anti-Virus Vista 2010 or Anti-Spyware if you have windows 7. Try and avoid gumtree.com if you can  :y

By the way 2nd time I've had it in the past week from gumtree so won't be using that sh*t hold anymore  >:(

I have a virus, that even Norton cannot get rid of because when I install the Norton the virus shuts it doown.
The Virus is called  LSAS.BLASTER.KEYLOGER and I have tried umpteen times today to get rid and all to no avail, so as I type I got a small popup window in centre of my screen.
Looks like more money, as I cannot find my Windows disk, and I suspect I gotta go Cardiff and get it wiped (my harddrive I mean) and pay more money for that service and a Windows disk.
Will this shi* ever go away, and I get a little easier life.

Try here:

http://darfuns.com/remove-trojan-lsas-blaster-keylogger/

Manual or auto removal (free) available, it would seem.

Nickbats link should sort it for you, also get rid of norton use avast much better and free but do it in safe mode.
also as long as you have the genuine key then the install of windows can be done from and disc as long as its the right version :y
If you have a problem finding the cd let me know as I have a few versions floating around from reinstalling friends pcs that have lost the cd :y

It is going to have to be a complete wipe, as when I try and install something the virus will not let it open.
I cannot even cnnect to Messenger.
If anyone has a spare Windows disc I would be obliged.
This really pi*8ing me off.
I thought a spurious disc would not work though I thought as Windows will not recognise it when I re-install.
Just a thought, ADVICE NEEDED AND ACCEPTED

I don't understand why you need to do a complete wipe.

Here are the instructions from the link:

General Symptoms
Displays fake warning messages and “System Security Firewall Alert ” popups alerts.
Flashing icons appear on your system tray (Near of your system clock).
Hijacked homepage to OBSCURE webpage.
Internet Explorer is infected with worm Lsas.Blaster.Keyloger. This worm is trying to send your credit card details using Internet Explorer to connect to remote host.

Manual Removal of Lsas.Blaster.Keyloger

Kill Spyware Processes
692527612.exe, 1313928688.exe, 1806188250.exe

Get rid of Files and Folder
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\1929146152\1313928688.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\1372029626\1806188250.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\870894309\692527612.exe

+++

So, first of all, press control +alt + del, go to Processes tab then end the three processes listed. Next, in Explorer, delete the files and folders listed.

Should be job done then.

I can't see the problem...though I'm no geek.  ;)

I cannot even get my icons on desktop.
CTRL ALT DELETE  does not work, just whatever I do brings the popup advising me to pay £2995 for the removal of virus and it is a spurious site.
Cannot install any AV programme as the vrus closes it down.
I am at my wits end.
I am using Vista but not sure which edition
Any ideas~

I think you need CTRL+SHIFT+ESC in Vista. Try that combination.  :y
