hi new to all this so take it easy ? i have a 96 omega 2.5td and have the chance to buy a chip on ebay for £60 , sounds okay , but is it easy to fit and what difference will it make fuel and power
-
:D Be carefull. i bought a little box for £13 that plugs into the iat sensor(fuctifino) that is supposed to kid your engine it's running cold all the time so pushes more fuel in. I was daft enough to buy it but not daft enough to try & fit it ::)

I would imagine all that is, is a resister between the Coolant temp sensor and the ECU...
It will make it run rich and use a lot more fuel. It will also up your emissions which could be tricky at MOT time
Steer clear IMO
Talk to Omegatoy, he has a chipped TD, but his is a proper chip...
-
There is a box you can get and I cannot remember the name, but seem to think dragon? Anyway, plugs in and can boost it up to about 200bhp.
Omegatoys TD goes like a bat out of hell. It is a proper chip and isn't cheap, but IS worth it.

200bhp from the tractor.. are you serious!!
What sort of MPG can you expect once chipped?

Being turbo'd its possible to get huge performance gains, yet keep economy for cruising around.... ....can make engine feel a bit peeky though.
Omegatoy will have the answers...
-
;D economy? only 29.9 mpg ::)
but thats when towing nearly 2 tons of caravan around spain!!! :y
on n its own everyday use back on forward to work 45/46 normal driving can get it down to 36/37 when booting it everywhere tho!!!

James... yup around 200bhp and yes it goes like the clappers. Its like rocket out of the blocks.... next time your up this way i would be tempted to go ask very nicely for a little drive. It does open your eyes a bit....

Offered Jamie a drive in the estate but warned him it would make his car feel very lethargic and he sensibly declined to drive it!!!! ;D

Aye, want to get my tractor working properly so I can see what they are supposed to be like. Then, I will see what is possible from then on....
-
I told you Jaime. Let me take that tractor off your hands and I'll sort it.

I am entirely undecided what to do. Get it sorted and flog it, or keep it and chip it. The MV6 is staying, as I can't see the tractor ever replacing that....

It already goes better then when he got it!! with just a couple of little bits done to it, we had an immediate improvement in pick and engine response, needs a bit more yet tho!!

You know you want to keep it to tow my future projects ;)

A) You're not allowed to tow
B) No shin breakers on my cars - people might think I like caravans >:(

A) I can't drive the tow car but I can be towed ;)
B) Couple of walkie talkies and me braking should prevent damage to the Elite ;)

You can remove the cat on a diesel and they will still pass an MOT :y

Hmm have thought about it but never done it yet!! what difference does removing the cat make? apart from more noise!!?
-
Well it will flow better - less back pressure.
-
Turbo spools up a little faster and a lot sharper.
-
might well try it then!!! thanks guys,
