Title: March election
Post by: Nickbat on 25 February 2010, 22:31:24
In case no one spotted my post in the Poll thread, it seems as if the General Election will be called this weekend.

WAY too late for a March election.
Will be 1st thursday in May I reckon, as do most of the papers.

Don't think so. I believe the present lot want to avoid having to present a budget.

The rumour is partially substantiated by the fact that someone who was due to appear before a Parliamentary Commission on Monday was yesterday told that "this may be the last time we will see you"...

The Tories are on the ropes at the moment and Gormless knows he missed his opportunity last time so I wouldnt be surprised if he calls a quick election very soon. :y

Who cares?  The replacements will be no different.  Even if they wanted to be different (they don't), they wouldn't be able to due to the abysmal state 10 years of New Labour has left us in.

TheBoy for PM, here's my manifesto:

Close down the NHS. It cannot be fixed or saved.
If you don't work, you lose the right to vote.
Disciplining children and teenagers properly will become mandatory.
Those convicted multiple times will be used as target practice for our armed forces.

Vote for me :D

Word on the street is 8th April.

Meanwhile:

"The latest survey indicates there will be a hung parliament, but it would be Gordon Brown who would be in the position to try and form a government as leader of the largest party."

I hope not.  :( :(

As somebody who, I suspect, wants to work, then under my regime, you would lose the right to vote that year you were out of work. Sorry about that, but tough titties.

The idea of the policy is to stop making the lazy breakwits who don't want to work and expect the government to provide for them the majority, and thus dictating policies in their favour.  No work, no paying into the state, no right to get anything from the state.

So you would be disenfranchising pensioners, would you?  I rather think that that would be shooting yourself in the foot, as they are the section of the population most likely to agree with some of your other manifesto policies, although not the bit about the NHS.

I've only got 11 months to go to my pension, and I really want to vote against New Labour at every opportunity that arises before falling off my perch :(

Unless there's a change in the law, the older generation will soon be deciding who governs the country, as they will be the majority (well, the majority that votes anyway).

Sounds promising!

We could also have ewethanasia for sheep haters.  Probably wouldn't be to popular in Wales. :)
