Just needed a stat and a major service  ;)

Seems like it.
Just needed a few V6 CDX do-able repairs and away to go.
Now how much is it worth with 13 months MOT.
Full Service et al?
That is the question.

The same as it was before. The service adds no value, MOT not really worth much either as long as the car looks honest.

The stat change was fine, but I wasted ten mins on getting the B bolt lined up through all the gubbins it secures.... >:(

Diane, check James's pockets for the missing wheel bolt.

I remember doing a job on Laidback66's MV6 where we were changing the stat....I could not for the life of me find the stat bolts...searched around for a good hour looking for them (I always put the bolts in a magnetic tray)....we found them eventualy...in his bloody pocket!

I have to say, I've had no problems with JamesV6CDX nicking stuff.  ;)

It's normally the other way round. I think at one point he forgot his change of clothes, most of his tools and his mobile phone. In fact, everything he brought except himself and his car IIRC. :P

It was NONE of the ones that have been listed in the links.
It was on eBay yesterday and ended today around 12 noon.
I did not put it in watched items so have not got a link to it, but no doubt it will show up sometime soon.
Has not been re-listed as yet.

Title: Re: My MOT
Post by: joshwyatt on 26 February 2010, 17:33:56
The acid test is how much interest the dealer has managed to get.
I have a 2004 '54' E Class on ebay, 31,000 miles, full leather AMG wheels...I have had three phone calls from fellow traders asking what my 'best trade price is' so that in itself is a good sign. I did ask for a number to phone them back on to test out if they were really traders and asked them about their trade plates etc. I am confident that the vehicle will sell for what I want for it, but...after a certain time I would want to get rid of a vehicle asap.
So it depends on whether the dealer has had much interest, viewings and whether he wants to keep it around. Every single vehicle I have sold, the first person who had actually made a proper appointment to view the vehicle bought it. So ask this guy how many viewings he's had, if he says not many or loads you can probe him further.
Never make an offer over the phone, I don't take people seriously who do that...unless I've met them before, if they want a vehicle they will go and look at it, and test drive...I much prefer people who spend an hour looking round a car and ask as many questions as they can than just phone up and make an offer, they can't possibly make an offer without looking at it. So I'd say Di, go and look at it and make an offer when you're there  :y

As I said at the time, no point in ringing them. If you turn up with £3k of folding and dangle the prospect of driving it away, it's an entirely different matter. Especially as they've listed it and it hasn't gone, it's hanging around cluttering their forecourt, etc...

Looking at the location of the photos, i'd say they don't have a forecourt, and its one of those places you need to make an 'appointment' to view.

I'd pay £3k for it, maybe its worth a trip there to investigate, its not far from my office  :D
