Can anyone tell me what this would be used for (in a garage/workshop). Sorry about pic quality. The sellotape is there to give a sense of scale.

Nope .....no idea. :y

The reason I ask is because when I had a look under the bonnet of my newly-acquired zafira, this was sitting across the aux belt. Imagine the rather damage that could have done. The service manager at EH will be getting
it shoved up his arse a mouthful on Monday.
-
something to lock chains :-/
Either that or its shoved in the customer, along with the bill ;D
-
I just wonder what they were actually trying to do under there. :-/
-
Sorry Steve, no idea what that is :-/
But yes, make merry hell when you take it back to them.
-
Looks a bit like the bonnet stay rod off my old Mini........
:y

Isn't that one of those things used to twist the end of a tube (sealant perhaps)?
-
Its an 'ook. Used to 'ook things.... Like aux belts around pulleys, rather than getting your fingers in the way.......
At least, its one use I'd have for it.... ;D

Doesnt look like something from a Vx parts/tool catalogue. :-/

Seen lots of home made tools to do particular jobs. The one pictured looks like it has a plastic covering to the handle as well as nice parrallel handle lengths. Might be a proper tool or simply one improvised to do a task? :-/
-
if you found it in a place that can be reached from outside be very careful about your neighbours :-/
something similiar happened to me.. >:(
-
I bet it`s for releasing recalcitrant bonnets; in the event of the catches getting stuck! ;)

I would liketo see the tube of sealant that came from. :D ;D ;D

Thats your warranty fooked!! You've just removed a vital engine component!
Well, thats what the service manager will probably try to tell you ;D ::)

For once i think i have a constructive answer...no really!!!
Looks like a gadget used to push a small dent or dint if you're Northern, from a panel. I've seen these & similar used by those in the know, they have bags of them. Seems they can reach those certain places!!! Probably worth more than the Zapphy...some things you really should'nt talk about!!
Joking aside Steve that's my guess, Guy. :y

Could well be Guy, they do have a strange range of tools.... :y Bet he is out looking for small dents as soon as it is light....... :D :D :D

Looks like someone has broken into your car Steve, then put Their Key under the bonnet for safe keeping :o ::) ;D :P
-
Take no notice! It`s just a wind up from Daz ;D ;D ;D!

Looks a bit like one of those keys that used to be attached to sardine tins.
Maybe it's for opening up a very large can of worms. :)

Looking at the piccy again, think my bet might be on, a tool for shoving down between the window and seal to open locked doors :y

Yes it does look the same but a thieving tool should have "less girth"??? You'd make a mess & a racket with that.

If you have another look under the bonnet you might find the emulsion roller that's missing off the end? :D ;D

I had thought this and even considered going out to the shed and opening my Lockout Kit to see if I had anything similar... ...Then I decided I couldn't be bothered as it's only STMO ::) ::) :D :D
I know I do have tools the same sort of size but nothing like that
