When I was learning to glide as we came into land we flew over a favourite spot for spotters to watch,
we used to love buzzing them as we came in as they wouldn't hear us until we went over  ;D :D

The A10 Thunderbolt (also known as the Warthog)makes a unique sound especially when firing the 30mm front cannon  :y :)

When firing the forward cannon, the "trigger" is electronically linked to the throttle to ensure the power is at a minimum of 80% ... or the aircraft can stall due to the recoil effect of all that depleted uranium the cannon is shoving out !!  It fires at 3900 rounds /minute .. and the magazine holds just over 1000 rounds ... just 15 seconds worth !!!

So did my best mate during the first gulf war in a "friendly fire" incident. They thought they were being attacked by the MLRS till after the fastest 800 metre sprint of his life he looked up to see what was killing his mates. I'd never seen a grown man cry so much in my life....damn trigger happy yanks.

Not much is protection from a depleted uranium cannon shell travelling towards you at twice the speed of sound!!
It will penetrate TWO FEET of mild steel.

Nothing you can hide behind, then.
