I agree, If you have a weapon in the house it should be out of reach of kids and under lock and key
-
Another problem caused, in part, by the new "virtual world" catching people out.
Tragic.
-
And I worry about the sharp knifes in the cutlery draw what was the parents thinking- or lack of as may be
-
and i thought CGi was realistic!
-
Some parents just shouldn't have kids....and now two don't.Very tragic and what's worse, very preventable :( :( :(

Spot on Jon :y

Sad, very sad :( :(
I hope the parents get locked up for their stupidity >:( >:(
I mean, FFS, why would you leave a gun lying around? And surely if he'd been checking for a prowler the night before he'd have taken the gun back to the bedroom with him :-? :-?
Just an excuse for their stupidity IMO >:( >:( >:(

One of the problems of the "gun culture" I'm afraid ... "familiarity breeds contempt" ... after 38 years of regularly handling firearms I still respect what they can do .... perhaps it has a great deal to do with the way I was TAUGHT to handle them ... rather than produce a driving licenece and buy one ... :(
-
My Instructor always told us three things
1)treat EVERY firearm as if its loaded
2)NEVER point a firearm at anyone unless you mean to pull the trigger next
3)NEVER walk away from a loaded weapon and leave it.
Still regularly shoot, and can hear his words ringing in my ears 20 years on, clear as day.
What a waste of a life. String the parents up, I'll pull the lever!!

exactly - the easy availability of guns in the US means those of an intellectually challenged nature will get them too i'm afraid with no training or experience necessary :(

Those who live by the gun will die by the gun..........including the innocents!! :'( :'( :'(
-
Why is it the innocent have to die before lessons are learnt? :'(

I don't think there's any reason to believe that lessons will be learnt.
Unless we constrict everyone with oppressive pinnickity laws, there will always be sporadic background events such as this. There are some stupid individuals around who don't think - and there always will be. :(
