Quick background, I was made redundent last April from my job as an engineer working on primarily shrink wrap machinery, it was the second time in 7 years so I made the decision then that I wanted a job which I actually enjoyed. I love driving so looked out for a job as a van driver or similar.
All the while I tried going self employed doing the same thing I was doing but failling miserably.
Well I kept looking and yesterday had a call from Enterprise Car Rental asking if I would be able to attend an interview today. Tbh I had applied for so many jobs that I was unsure exactly what this involved.
Turns out it was for a valeter/delivery driver, not the most prestigous job in the world for sure, but I was interested.
Apparently they had over 150 applications, and they had been interviewing for 3 days, but I got the call from their HR dept this afternoon telling me the job was mine :y :y :y
Cr@p money to start tbh but even when I was earning twice (almost thrice) as much I managed to loose my house :'(, plus I have prospects here to go onto better things (and Bupa)
So, not a bad day all in all. :y :y :y :y

Pete's right, it's all about networking...you'll no doubt impress others you work with, or someone may spot you and pass your details around to another company with an even better job.
This time next year Rodney...we'll be millionaires :D

Well done. Been in the same position myself. Having been made redundant twice within two years. Thats the way the printing industry is these days! Not easy to find any work even for rubbish money at the mo. I wish you the very best of luck in your new job.

Well, what can I say. Thanks ever so much to you all for your kind words, I don't think you know how much they mean to me.
Since joining this forum I feel like I've found a place I belong. I can come on here and vent my frustration or (as in this case) my happiness and know that you will all have your own opinions and aren't afraid to say them, thats what makes it work so well.
Plus, the help you all give me has saved me a small fortune in the past year and I honestly doubt I'd be driving a Miggy if it wasn't for this site.
Im not really active on any other forums but I obviously take a peek every now and then, and it amazes me the amount of negative comments people get and arguements that get started over nothing. Yes I know there are a couple of times that people have thrown their toys out of their pram but its such a rare occurence on here.
LONG LIVE OOF :y :y :y :y :y
:-[Right, gay mode deactivated - Boobs And Ladys Bums, Spit ;D ;D ;D ;D That feels better ;)

I spent ages in Merthyr Tydfil last year, stayed in the Premier Travel Inn near the Co-op supermarket at the bottom of the hill, plus spent a few nights in a family run hotel right in the middle of the town. Was working in a company which was in the next village up from the Asda on top of the hill.
