Title: Unemployed...or economically inactive?
Post by: Nickbat on 17 March 2010, 13:36:25
Today's news: Jobless "down 33,000" in the quarter, number of people in work down, by 54,000

Huh? How does the "government" explain that?

"unemployment and employment were both falling because of a rising number of people being classed as economically inactive. This category includes students and those on long-term sick leave, as well as those who have stopped looking for a job."

You couldn't make it up!  ::) ::) ::)

Its OK, if the figures dont add up Gordon can go back to the house in a month or so and admit he was wrong. Just like he did today regarding the lies he told to the Chilcott enquiry about defence spending rising every year in real terms under Liebore. In times past he would have had to resign in disgrace for pulling that stunt while young service personell are losing their lives on a daily basis, but not these days. The spin doctors will no doubt declare it to be the actions of a good and honest man. >:( >:(

"Lies, damned lies and statistics."

Perhaps this should now read "Lies, damned lies, statistics and New Labour statistics."
