Title: Project Elite - Request for help
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 06 April 2007, 17:40:10
This is a long shot, but I'm going to be held up over easter weekend due to the lack of a thermostat seal, and the 2 o rings for the front coolant transfer pipe

Does anyone have these components, that I could use and then replace?

I'm afraid AFAIK i only have the ones you put on the car mate, although i had a feeling there were 2 spare o rings...  but I don;t have them if there were...   I just looked ..

however I'd be happy to see if any of our local dealers have them and are open tomorrow morning.

I have the two for the transfer pipe......but not for the stat to block seal although the grey sealent for the oil cooler works well here in conjunction with the old seal....

Beware the stat to block O ring....they generally only supply the later item and if used with a standard stat housing....it breaks the housing!

I Have them James....  (based on part numbers supplied above)   I can bring them over tonight, I have to drop my daughter off at her grans (near Chipping Norton)  at 5 pm or I'd head over now....
no Sat Nav as i'm in the 106 this weekend , the Meega is at the garage having all it's bits done for MOT and a full service (only thing they're not doing is the leak...  )

So I'll need clear directions....

Hi max,

You're a star

I'm actually not home until the morning now - I guess I'll have to pop up and get them from you?

Do you know what the part numbers are for old and new? Is the part number that max got (as above) for the older type O ring?

whatever's best for you James... I'm easy...  quite happy to drop them over, or for you to pick them up...   the only real difference being that you already know how to find our place.

EPC shows the old stat to block P/N as 90410900 - superseded by P/N 9128363 ...

Ahhh.... and is the earlier one still available chaps??

perhaps that's contributory to there beinga remaining small leak and coolant weirdness on mine???   (I do hope not.... but ....   )

sorry James, it seems I have the later "piss useless piece of crap that breaks things"  and your transfer pipe o rings...

Still at £1.82 for the lot, it's not a major disaster, but it does screw you up for finishing the job by monday night....

Ahh well... sh*te happens.... I do appreciate your efforts Max......

As Mark says, maybe some sealant around the old stat will be OK

In terms of your Stat housing... I am prepared to bet my right leg on the fact that it's not leaking after the treatment I gave it ;) ..

Max, I'm going to "improvise" on the stat seal, but I could still do with the transfer pipe rings..

Any chance of me popping up tonight, after dark? (so I can tinker with the other bits in daylight)..

Cheers :)
