Title: Phone numbers help
Post by: splott on 23 March 2010, 10:37:33
I am trying to find my wifes brothers. She has not seen them since she was seperated from them when
she was a baby.
We know their names and know that they live in Leeds.
The brothers last names are not a common name so there are not many about.
Question..... is there a site on the internet where we could obtain/find phone numbers for the Leeds area.
Hope someone can help us on this :y

Tried it, it just comes up blank.
We have found someone with the same name as one brother but if you put this name into 192 it comes up with nothing. :-?

As daft as it sounds they could be members of Friends Reunited, Facebook, My Space etc doing exactly the same as you.

Also not sure if the salvation army have something that helps search for familys.

Hope you find them matey.  :y

Just a couple of things to try:
If they are taxable age, then they MUST be registered at the tax office, and they are also liable to vote, so try the electoral register. THEN, go to the register of census on the net for leeds in 2005, they should be listed, along with their ages, so can find out if they are the right ones by that.
if you are still stuck then, PM me, I used to trace people for debts, so its very similar........GOOD LUCK!

Mike.

The Salvation Army do indeed have a service for locating people. They make a small charge to cover their costs. Check out their website.

If they find the people you are looking for they will act as intermediaries until both sides are happy they want to make contact.

On the other hand, you say you think you may have found one of the brothers. I would concentrate on locating and contacting that person who will probably already know the whereabouts of the other(s). There's no need to find all of them first.

Not sure if its her brother but he is the correct age, same name and lives in Leeds. We e-mailed him but he has not come back to us as yet

It's probably a bit of a shock to him.... I think I've just located my father after looking for him for about 30 years.

I wrote to him about 2 months ago, but no reply as yet. It can be a bit daunting...

As I say, finding someone isn't the same as making contact.

Did your wife's brothers know about her? If they were very young at the time of separation they may not have remembered, or they may even have been told some story to cover her 'disappearance'.... just speculating here as I obviously don't know the circumstances...

How long ago did you email? I would leave a decent amount of time, then email again asking if it's Ok to phone....

My wife was the eldest and was put in an orphanage before the other kids were born. They might not know about having an elder sister. :'(
Only e-mailed the guy a couple of days ago, early days yet :(

Yep, that's a tricky one! Especially if one or both of the parents are still alive and haven't mentioned this.

There could be some pretty lively discussions going on in Leeds about now....

Nothing for you or your wife to feel awkward about, though. Don't see anything wrong from your side... :y

We have found my wifes mum years ago, but she doesn't know where some of her kids are. We think she had some of them adopted, we don't know???

My wifes Dad just disappeared, my wifes mum can't remember his name even. :'(

If you put in town and surname you'll get a list. I just hope the surname isn't Smith, Leeds is a big place ;D

Just used bt, found my wifes mum and my wifes youngest sister who we spoke to many years ago . They have moved to Morecambe they originally lived in Clitheroe. So there's a plus :y but no joy finding her brothers using BT.

I could do with some one from Leeds having a look at the local directories, as the brothers might not be in the main part of Leeds.
