Title: Parking (of a Duple Coach) At Its Best!
Post by: Lizzie_Zoom on 25 March 2010, 14:17:56
This one is for Sethsmate especially ;)

This is at last a copy of a photograph showing my part owned, in the late 1970's, 1958 Duple 56 seater road coach, that I parked on our then house drive.

Who says a women cannot park a vehicle??!! ;D ;D ;) ;)

PS I seemed to remember it's registration number was MUD 975.

It had been purchased, with a full fuel tank, for £500 from Chiltern Queens ;) ;)

It had a big steering wheel GD and yes it was a bit heavy at slow speeds, but when moving it was fine 8-) 8-).

I was of course much younger then and I was used to my Ford motor cars not having power steering anyway ::) ::)

Power steering to me is still a luxury after those early days and driving my father-in-laws Humber Super Snipe!! :D :D :D ;)

hehe that reminds me of the time a policeman ordered me to frive into a housing estate in a 38ton artic !!!because there was a road crash just up a bit and they could get cars through but not trucks, so he ordered me to drive into the  estate and park up while they sorted the rta, around an hour later he came up and i asked him where i could turn round? no problem he said, i will direct you reversing into that driveway pointing at a house very very similar to the one with your coach parked, sure enough i backed up the driveway following his directions, his face was a picture when i stopped with the trailer alongside the house and the trailer axles a foot below the level of the driveway!! it had an inch of tarmac covering shingle or something, certainly wasnt man enough for 38ton artic!!! lol did he have some explaining to do!!

Chiltern Queens used to run local services around here years ago. They used to be the only bus service between Didcot and Wallingford in those days, used to run twice a day both ways Monday to Friday and once each way on Saturdays.
