Taking my VeccyC out today (for those that saw the other thread) has had me thinking.....
Over Omega.....
It does more to the gallon.....like nearly 30% more....working it out this could save me about £1000 a year on lpg costs.
Road tax on it is about £100 a year cheaper
Insurance is about £500 a year cheaper
Omega keeps going wrong :( Latest is exhaust manifold studs need sorting :(
Vectra 1.8 engine seems good for at least 200k miles....VectraB engine( same engine) is nearly on this mileage and still going...and hasnt needed cam gasket/exhaust manifold change or anything doing to it!
Upsides of Omega....
Its more comfortable than Vectra....
Plus its auto.....i dont like driving manuals....
And its an estate....VeccyC is hatchback....need estate for dog really.....
Tho could look for a VeccyC estate dualfuel....sell the Omega....rent the the vectraC hatchback :-/
So the two minds is now....do i get shot of the omega and use/get another veccyC estate.....
I guess i can only answer that question..... :-/

The autobox will affect economy, esp round town....
Veccy-C isn't a bad car. Pig ugly from the front though...

From a business point of view, its got to be the veccy. But we lunatics on here dont see it that way ::)

OOF :)
VOF :(
-
As pointed out, Autos do use more fuel.
Don't forget the weight of the Omega and size of it!
Engine is heavier & car is whole lot heavier...that will affect mpg too.
It depends if maintaince costs are really that much lower on Veccy, looks really arn't an issue for you as its a job car... and lets face it the Omega is typical Vx. But i think its ageing very well....
Auto & comfort does come at a price :( - Taking my Omega to Birmingham Airport again, its sooo smooth and sooo comfy I am prepared to pay the premium! :y

Whats it like being a taxi driver in leicester?
I normally average 60 hours per week at the moment....unless i get a 'lucky' week or need to do other stuff

The 1.8, 2.0 and 2.2 engines are pretty much the same animal....same blocks, heads, exhaust manifolds etc....

So what is the point in the 1.8 then?
