Today, using my trusty hammer, beating 10 bells of Sh1t into a stubborn nail...
Slipped, absolutely clobbered the hammer with all my might into my left hand, area where thumb meets hand. Went dark, and has been completely numb.. but now it's wearing off and I'm in tonnes of pain... Gilfriend is sure I've broken/smashed the bone, it hurts like mad to even try and move, and is at a funny angle...
I'm dosed up on painkillers and beer for now... but I guess tomorrow first thing will see a visit to A+E :(
BUGGER >:( ;D

Ouch! Really sorry to hear that. Best get yourself down to A+E as you say.
I wish you a speedy recovery.

I hope it is OK

Sorry to hear that... :(
Didn't happen to me (not yet, anyway...), but some years ago a good mate of mine was using an upright drill and his hand slipped, the drill went right though his hand round the same area you managed to bash i.e. between thumb and pointing finger, luckily it hit no bone but he was in massive pain.... wasn't funny.

Sorry to hear about your hand James - hope it does not take too long for the pain to reduce and for you to be able to use it again.
Markjay - the same sort of thing happened to me in what used to be called CDT at school. I was not paying attention with the pillar drill and ended up drilling through my thumb. It was very painful for weeks afterwards. Nowadays when my Cub and Beaver Scouts are using drills for the projects that we make, I always tell them this story so that they respect the tools.

It's actually not as horiffic as I feared, having had it looked at.
Nicely bandaged, to be examined again in a week! Use of my other 4 fingers is fine...
Lucky that project Elite is now finished (MOT depending!)
Paul, I can help you anytime mate, but it will be with one hand only, so it may be more guidance than help :)
Dave - not work on cars?? Watch me ;D ;D
-
Was it XRayed?

OK, I'll have a think about this, as said maybe Newbury if you can make it....

Heavy dull things are painful when you hit yourself with them. Now you know how much it hurts do not do it again. ;D ;D ;D

You should always exaggerate pain (unless you dont need to) if it looks like they're not gonna xray, last august my foot swelled up and i couldnt figure out why, it ached but wasn't especially painful, given that at the time I was working in a 2 floor sports shop and constantly up and down the stairs. After 5 days of struggling to put my shoe on i decided to hobble to A&E on my day off where I was told I had a skin infection, when the nurse started to feel around my foot I sceamed like a girl just for the sake of getting an xray, and found I'd broke a bone!

I did that, went a funny colour after a day or 2, so registered at a doctor, old doctors had lost all my records (they chuck them after 20yrs if not visits). Once I'd done all that, the lazy scumbag GP wasn't interested.
Needless to say, when I moved to Brackley 6 years ago, I didn't bother registering with a doctor.
My moto - a bit of pain never hurt anyone....

Actually it wasnt the stepping on it that hurt.....i got sent to a&e as i did it in a work place (packing area....taking a short cut) it was the cleaning they did at a&e that hurt!
Tho i did get a nice new pair of boots from the company ;D
