Title: callcenter location
Post by: omegod on 26 May 2010, 20:32:07
Just been doing battle with Elephant insurance and noticed the girl had an unusual accent............Canadian, based in Nova Scotia to be exact  :o

Nice to deal with someone without the language problems we have all had at some point when you end up talking to Jaipor or suchlike but I doubt canadians would cost much less to pay than Brits if they based their call center over here in blighty!!

We have just lost something like 600 jobs here in Hartlepool through Large  account holders moving their business  to the Indian Continent  >:(  I realise these businesses have to turn a profit & keep their shareholders happy, but at what cost to Great Britain & Local Economies at Home?

The large multinational I used to work for did this. They had offices all over the world and they had calls from Uk customers taken by Australia during the night. It meant that they didn't have to pay night rates or shift allowances to UK based staff and of course it was daytime in Oz so they just got paid their basic rate. :y
