well what a load of rubbish we were in the world cup i cant belive that lampards goal was dissallowed (1966 all over again was it over the line)and yes i do think us going in 2-2 would of made a difference to the 2nd half well my moneys on argentina now :y

England struggled to get to the knockout stages, Experience does not always triumph over youth -
USA get beaten by a youthful Ghanaian team
England get humiliated by a youthful Germany, easily finding the back door open in a team too slow to close it.
Time England revised the whole team -
make David Beckham manager.
put the old warhorses out to pasture and recruit young blood - Beckham knows who to include, he runs his own Football Academy.
Cap premier division teams to half the number of foreign players allowed to play for any club, therefore allowing new young English players to work their way up through the ranks.
Put world football before club football,
otherwise we'll still be reminiscing in 2066.... ::)
-
Why wont they use the camera's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(
The germans tore us apart whenever they felt like it. 2-2 into the 2nd half we would still of lost.
wrong tactics, players were crap in all the games.
Shameful world cup.
Knocked out by our arch enemies aswell. Biggest defeat in our world cup history.

you'd get rid of Fabio and pay Beckham? ;D ;D ;D
maybe it's not Capello's fault, maybe it's not McLaren's fault, maybe it's not Eriksson's fault, or Robson's or Taylor's.....maybe....just maybe the players aren't all they're cracked up to be? just a thought, they're a top ten side who get to the quarters more often than not - actually you could argue they punch above their weight :o

That would guarantee complete failure, the team already play a very singular game and Beckham would only manage to make them play even more a singular game...
What we do need is a decent manager who will encourage teamwork and focused playing high quality football...

And of course everyone in Wales (and Scotland and Northern Ireland) are entitiled to p155 themselves because they all got through to the QF stages, didn't they... oh, no wait a minute....
And before you all start banging on about how all the English were expecting their team to win, NO WE WEREN'T!!
Do you honestly believe that we were thinking the same as the tabloid headlines?
At least the English can still have that little bit of hope (not expectation) which the other parts of the UK must have lost by now.
Must be a sad existence if the only pleasure you get out of the World Cup is taking the p155 out of the English and crowing when they get knocked out.
Just to point out, I'm not a football fan and I was busy doing other things when the England matches were on.

It's called "envy" .... and is the tabloid mentatlity .. "if you can't beat them ... knock them"
I just love the way the Scots, Welsh, Irish like to disparage everything English .... except, of course, when it comes to taking English taxpayers money ... at which point it would appear that we are really nice people ..
Hypocrisy rules ... :)

I think those comments are more than valid DJ :y

The age of electronic refereeing is definately coming...................eventually there will be no more line refs and cameras will cover every angle and point of the pitch. Discussions will be made by pundits as to the angle of shot, mph of ball, and degree of spin.
What happened to the "beautiful game????"

I agree with everything you say mate. From another non Football Fan though it is so dissapointing to see England yet again do so Badly :'(
I do think we should have an English Coach not a foreign one though, perhaps David Backham could be an idea I don't know.
What seems criminal to me is that each one of the England Players are millionaires or more or less, play each week apparently brilliantly, that good even to be classed as World Class Players.... and yet better Lads and Dad's sides are watched on a Sunday morning :o
Perhaps a wage cut or even the extra money they will all recieve for playing the World Cup should be revoked....
-
Wage cut plus a cap on how many foreign players can be in the league. That way we would get some home grown talent and a bigger gene pool to draw from.
If they want more money then let another country (with more money to throw around) provide it.
Sack the FA. What sort of company hires a key person on a four year contract. Makes my blood boil.
-
As a non-football supporter myself, it seems ridiculous that a foreign manager should manage a national team, and that players should be paid so much when it should be an honour and priviledge to play for your national team, and you should be proud to even be considered, not do it cos the money is so fantastic..........and furthermore, all expenses should be covered, but you shouldn't have to be paid to do it, you should WANT to do it soooo badly you wouldn't care if you were paid or not. 99% of players don't need the money, anyway, arn't they paid enough by their own clubs day-to-day?? And to turn in a non-performance like that......they ought to have to pay their own flights home!!
Mo wonder some of the players have gone "on holiday" they must be so ashamed, and afraid of all the publicity they just escape until it dies down a bit!!
-

you think qualification from a group that wouldn't have been easier if you'd hand picked it makes England world beaters? You think England, knowing what you now know, would have qualified had they been in a group containing Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech republic and Poland as Northern Ireland had? Or would you prefer Germany, Russia and Finland like Wales faced? Or Netherlands and Norway like Scotland? You qualified as the lone representative of the UK, as one of the largest countries in Europe, the odds are generally favourable for you...........so qualification should be fairly straightforward. Next you draw perhaps the easiest group at the finals, USA who topped it got put out with ease by Ghana for example - so they're hardly world beaters and finished ahead of you. Finally you meet a half decent side in Germany who demolish you.
Look back at every world cup from 1970 to the present day - the first time you come across a half decent opposition, you're out - usually favourable seeding means you shouldn't meet a decent side 'til the quarters and with luck the semis ('90, '10(all you had to do was top the group) :o
Bring back the home nations championships - make it the 4 home nations, plus Republic of Ireland and invite one or two top nations, hold it in odd years in cities around Britain in the summer - no draws all games played to a win with pens if necessary, no extra time - i'm sure sky or the beeb would relish Sco v Eng or Eng v Argentina, Spain, Brazil etc plus it would give each country 5 games in a "tournament" holed up in a hotel....and spot kicks in front of full houses with a bit of pressure - win, win - i should run the FA :y
of course the money men who run the clubs who run the game wouldnt be interested in their precious stars playing in the UK - far better they go on a lucrative marketing tour of Asia or the US in the summer :(

I think we should have Mike Bassett as the England manager after all he can't be much worse than the last lot we've had but I bet he's a damn site cheaper ::)

Let's just clear one thing up... Whilst players are indeed paid to represent England, they ALL waive the money and it is put into PFA charities.
A world cup winners medal is the one thing their millions cannot buy! this is NOT about how much they are paid!

Lets hope they put double in then!
But it is about how much they are paid. Their performance was abject and not befitting of £100k a week "stars". Surely winning any sporting event is about putting forward top flight people and not a bunch of losers. I still wonder if the England team realise that they played dreadfully or more likely they thought they played well but on the day the other countries were lucky or played better. Heres hoping for a better showing in 4 years time.
I hope Spain whoop Portugal tonight. :y

Well ---- at the same time we welcomed the return of Englands primadonna "heroes", 7 real heroes returned home, each adorned with the Union flag. These footballers get in a week what our servicemen get in 8 months. :(

Joe Cole has been offered £180,000 a week, I'm pretty sure that's about 5 years worth for a well-paid soldier.

At least there is no third place for England to play for in a match

the one thing i don't blame the players for is taking money from clubs stupid enough to pay them ridiculous amounts........
club: "here's £150k a week"
player: "nah, just give me £10k a week and keep the rest"
;D

Just take a moment to apply some rational thought here!
If money is the reason for England's dismal performance, then how come every team is not playing as badly? English players are not singled out for big salaries - the amount of money is the same accross Europe - and most of Brazil and Argentina's players are receipt of it!
-
Did you hear Englands got one more International to play against Iceland if they win it will put them thru to the next round where they will be playing either Asda or Tescos ;D ;D
