Title: Not a good day.
Post by: CaptainZok on 20 July 2010, 19:30:30
Just got back from taking her indoors shopping and I was sat in the car giving it a quick rev when all of a sudden clouds of steam from under the bonnet.
Switch off, pull the bonnet and spot a red run off from under the car.
Not had chance to strip it down due to the lovely summer weather but a quick look shows coolant all over the o/s cam cover and generally around the HBV area.
So it looks like TG will be skinning his knuckles tomorrow. ;D
Bloody cars.

Indeed, HBV has been suspect for a while with an ongoing argument over wether we've changed it recently or not.
Seems like himself may have been correct, or we got one of those dodgy HBVs that were floating around a while ago.
Well at least it keeps him off the streets when he's not at work.

Sudden dramatic failure like that is more likely to be the helter skelter pipe from the bypass valve to engine

Haha, Ozzie has a couple of friends who'd sort a mouse problem for you.
They used to be workers before we got them.

Exactly how/where mine went when MDTM suggested I take the car for 'a spirited drive' to get the flush around the engine a few months back.  Mine seemed to dump several litres all up the windscreen (no scuttle) in the time it takes to go from 120mph to 0mph (I had no wipers either, though most of it was a sticky steam anyway)  :-[

Is that cling-film over the fuel feeds or don't you bother?
