Title: Camcorder
Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 25 July 2010, 16:25:41
I am looking for a new replacement for our old camcorder. It is still very good but to get anything from the mini casstte thing to a dvd/cd is a nightmare, plus i have taped over last years kids play which I am fuming about.  I don't know what the new thing is but could do with something far easier to get onto disc.
Cheers Guys & Gals    :-*

When snowboarding, a couple had one of these:

For such a little unit the quality was stunning, not bad price either. Easily downloadable to a PC, then onto disc or external hard disk.

You can take stills from the video too, and it survived a week in the snow and lots of high speed tumbles!

Coming off a jump, this still was captured from the video:

That looks pretty good to me Tunnie. How long will it record for any ideas?
Cheers

The little tapes are great - best PQ for SDTV, you just need a simple editing package - something like Ulead DVD movie factory, and remember to put the slider across after use.

I do like the little tapes - they are great.

One thing - never mix brands as they use different lubricants - took a while today to get some Sony DV60s

2 Hours on a 4Gb card, can take 8Gb SD card. Easily upgradeable as those cards are cheap as chips.

Will say though, traditional camera will be superior in quality, but as it can slip into your pocket and ease of use, combined with price, wins it for me  :)

Darth, getting your tape onto the PC should be easy with a firewire cable & even a freeware editing suite should be able to give you very acceptable end results. Burning to DVD shouldn't be a problem either IMHO :-/ My old Canon DV800i is still turning out exceptional home movies and I don't think you can beat mini tape for quality or longevity :y

BTW, that wasn't you robbing that bank in your best Vader costume yesterday in the Daily Mail was it? You're supposed to lie low & not splash out on expensive stuff until the heat has died down mate! ;D ;D ;D :y

I don't mind paying extra Tunnie for something that takes good quality video

MiniDV - then you have all you need.

Look for a cheap or free authoring package and burn DVDs on your PC.

Memory card ones will be rubbish in comparison

But not as good as your Panasonic.

Do you want us to sort out editing for you?
