The red bars in the breaker, are they electrical?

Yes, main traction motor bus bars.

The large one feeds 3 motor contactors and the 3 smaller ones go to the traction motors on one bogie set, the same is in the other cubical on the right.

On this example, the driver had been getting electric shocks from the pwoer handle.....we went and recovered some contactors as spares and found chaffed wires, motor contactors which carry thousands of amps where the bus bar bolts were finger tight and all sorts!

No wonder it was causing issues

Yep...and because the skin is structual when you take it off the 38 tons of donk and gen bend its back (as per the photo)  ;D
