Title: Flaming M6
Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 08 August 2010, 00:46:59
It has to be the worst motorway in the country.

Been sat in traffic for over an hour as they had shut the motorway at junction 8 and not a workman in sight. . . .

Could you not have used Toll. I know it is a bit pricey but I use it now most of the time to scoot round 6-10

I always use the M6 Toll Road as it saves loads of time, but last night the traffic wasn't so bad and with it being 10pm ish didn't think there was any point  :o

My mate bought one of those years ago as a bit of a basket case. Could we get the 'kin thing started? Ended up towing him up and down the road behind my mum's Volvo 340GL. ;D

That did the trick eventually.

I occasionally get the nerve to have a ride on one of the old original 350LC,s which has been extensively lightened for track use and has a 65bhp+ engine in it. Thats great fun and queit alot faster than my own bogger. :y 8-)

I didn't know they wrote a book about ya  ::)

Billy Liar is a 1959 novel by Keith Waterhouse, which was later adapted into a play, a film, a musical and a TV series. The work has inspired and featured in a number of popular songs.

The semi-comical story is about William Albs, a working-class 19-year-old living with his parents in a town of Ireland. Bored by his job as a lowly clerk for an undertaker, Billy spends his time indulging in fantasies and dreams of life in the big city as a comedy writer.

It reminds me of days long ago on business.  Coming back from the Whitby Bay area to Bristol; first A1 shut for 1.5 hours, then M66 closed, followed by M6 (!!) completely clogged with traffic to the M5 junction!!  7.5 hours to get home, when normally it would take me 3.5 hours! >:( >:( >:( >:(

The hours of our lives 'lost' on Britain's wonderful road system ah Daz! ::) ::) ::) :( :( ;)

Its a refreshing change Lizzie to chat with someone with sense unlike Billy Liar Albs or whatever his name is :D

I wonder how many hours of our life is spent in traffic jams?? :-?

The semi-comical story is about William Daz, a working-class 49-year-old living with his boyfriend in a town slum called Stoke. Bored by his job as a lowly test pilot for rubber shoes, Daz spends his time indulging in fantasies and dreams of life in the big city where he could earn lots of money and upgrade from his 50cc Fizzy to his dream bike - a CBR600 Honda.

Sounds like a good book Daz, I will have to buy a copy. :y :D ;D

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D thanks Daz! :y :y ;D ;D ;D ;D

I would hate to add up the amount of hours I think we have all "lost" on the roads!  With me a million miles, of which at least 25% were stuck in traffic!!  Still I made up time on the M roads when I could in those days!! :D :D :D ;)

Glad you slowed down past Birmingham and Walsall, it does throw up the dust when people speed past too quickly! ;D ;D
