Post by: Iain on 16 August 2010, 09:24:43
I just found in a drawer the above magazine with the Omega 4 pot timing belt change article

Now it is done on a 2.0 but i take it this is just exactly the same as the 2.2?
I assume it is just want it confirmed please :y

That article has a fair few errors in...

ALL omegas with BELTS have a 40k / 4 year interval for change, and should always be the kit as the tensioners are the normal weak link.

Cheers TB,mine has a slight 'noise' almost like an older style timing pinking noise now and then,at the meet,Welung666 reckoned the timing may be a tooth out on the inlet side so i wanted to check it out.
It had a belt done about a year and half ago

Easy enough to visually check on those - aux belt off, cover off, TDC, check :y

It was only done about 7/8k ago AA,so i'm not changing it just yet, i just want to check it by lining up the timing marks to check its spot on..
There is a chance it could be a tooth out.... so i want to know for sure

That's OK. just pointing out, I don't think Car Mech. mention the water pump.

I think it does show them doing the pump....

But yeah i would do it,dont see the point of stripping it all down that far and leaving an old pump in it! ;D
