I was sitting behind a 3.0DTI one earlier that obviously didn't want an Ode Omega to go past him ;D but was suprised how quick it was for a big car :o

My neighbour used to have a 3.0TDi Audi Q7 S-line Triptronic and I have to admit they are very very quick off the start, especially when the sports buttom is pressed on the Autobox.
230bhp
368.8 lbf or 500Nm Torque :-?
135mph Top Speed
0-60mph 9.0sec
Now he drives a 4.2TDi Q7 SE Triptronic ;-)
Even more impressive in get up and go...
322.0 Bhp
560.6 lb/f or 760Nm Torque :P
146mph Top Speed
0-60mph 6.4sec

Of all the yuppie 4x4's I think I loathe the Q7 the most ....... I can't give a constructive reason :-?..... I just do. ;) ;) ;)

They eat tyres quicker than an omega with knackered wishbones :y
-
You just can't beat a proper 4x4 ;-)
This is what I want ONE day when fund become available, I have had a 300Tdi Discovery and loved it.

I don't think I'd have one purely for that reason, they seem to be a hate car for a lot of people ;D A Range Rover is next for me :)

Which one Del? The facelifted L322, from '55' onwards? TD6, 4.2 SC, 4.4 or 3.6 TDV8?
They are still plagued with air suspension issueslike the Classic and P38. I bought my '55' plate TD6, and literally 10 minutes later the air suspension went wrong, went to 'extended mode' which is the highest possible, adove the highest you can set from the cabin...I then had to drive it back to Oxford from Brighouse...took the RA's slowly :D
If you get a TD6 check if the splines have been done, mine went to my local dealer FOC for some work to be done because of a manufacturing fault with a few TD6's. But if left, there will be a very expensive bill looming. I paid for mine to have a £400 service, which wasn't a full service...just a routine quick one...so budget for that.
There's a few oddities with them, like condensation in the rear lights...but that's normal :D
It was a good vehicle, but sell it asap...prices can drop from one month to the next, buy it dirt cheap one month...and two months later you could struggle to sell it.
-
Facelift, yes, sell quick, defiantly ;D, engine: 4.4 V8 305 bhp model, or 4.2 Supercharged depends which comes up first. Oh and Vogue SE spec :) One I'm eyeing up at the mo was lowered by a LR dealer dunno how that'll go with the air suspectsion (that never really worked like I hoped), big alloys, rear DVD's and big alloys. Only thing is Diesels sell a lot better, but low mileage is in it's favour.
-
they are quick on a straight line but not on curvy roads or crowded city traffic ;)

Yep. In other words, exactly the least satisfying type of car you could drive - IMHO. ;)

That 3.0 TDi is a peach of an an engine, i'd prefer it hooked up to an A8 though!

:-? :-? :-? It's powered by the fuel of the Devil ...... how can it be nice?

They also do a very mean Audi Q7 6.0ltr V12 Twin Turbo Diesel
493 bhp 8-)
737.6lb/f or 1000Nm Torque :D
155mph Max
0-60mph in 5.5sec

Didn't Clarkson have a go in one of them? Comparing fuel used etc he also asked ..... what's the point?

I dunno thought, thee are some real quality sounding diesels out there now, Merc V6 diesels, not the 4 pots mind you other than a fantastic turbo noise when you lift off, that is great. BMW 335d sounds good too. Oh the best being a Range Rover TDV8 :y
In my opinion of course :y
-
The RR TDv8 is quite a nippy chunk of machinery, given its dead weight. It can lift up its kilt and take a run at it alongside some of the better ones, in my experience.
Its 0-100-0 times are quite impressive.... Go look. ;)
-
if I would invest that sums of money I would prefer
something better than the classic buggy (vw) or audi ..
Porsche Cayenne would definitly be a better bet for speeding on normal roads..

Had an Ops Manager in my last job with a Q7, looked damn good, but he wanted to send it back a week later, both his children got car-sick in it whenever he went out with them in it!!
Changed it for a Touarag, no probs with kids, and IMO far better car................

Had 5! and when the Omega blows up it is my next car, plus the Mrs. hates it so it's even more of a reason to get one.
