Title: Timewasters
Post by: omegod on 22 August 2010, 17:15:56
Advertised a 206 yesterday and the phone has been buzzing. First guy wants it for his daughter " will be over within the next 2 hours, 3 hours later I ring him, "OHHH sorry my daughter had to go into work, wont be able to come now"

Second guy"will come at half three, daughter really likes the look of the car" rings him at half four, " Ohhh sorry she has gone for dinner at her brothers, wont be able to come now"

Who the break do they think they are wasting my time and screwing up my day >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( I wouldn't dream of behaving like that.

Very nice lady wants to come tomorrow evening, wants it for her son, let's hope no-one invites him for dinner hey ::)

Sunday pint coming up, now I have the time that is! :y

i can sympathise mate, had it when i was selling my last car. Loads of people promising to come over at a certain time and then never showing up. Drives you mad. try not to let it get to you, there are people out there who are genuinely interested im sure. :y

I've learnt not to tell them the exact location the first time they make contact...
Tell 'em to phone you just before they set out to make sure you are available, if they do call again then give them the address.
Mind you that still doesn't guarantee they will show up.

Typical saddo's who have so little going on in their personel lives they ring around enquiring about cars they have no interest in ever buying  >:(

It gives them something to do you see....time wasting knob heads!!

If they did turn up they would have only spent 30mins kicking the tyres...asking you stupid questions and would have then ended the viewing by saying 'well obviously i'm going to have to go away and have a think about it' .
Morons!

Had a similar situation with my work today.A visit was arranged by my office for me to call on a prospective customer who had visited our shop yesterday. The appointment was made for this morning at 11.00 am.I drove the 48 miles to their house....nobody was at home .I only had a mobile phone number which was on permenant a/phone....I waited for 1/2 hour then left with a card through door.
At 3.20pm this afternoon I got an a/phone message on my mobile saying they had gone out for the morning and had stopped off for lunch with friends, but it was okay for me to come back and see them next Sunday morning at 11.00.
Needless to say I wont be !!..,as most of my Sunday was also ruined..some people have absolutley no consideration or common decency when it comes to other peoples time.

I work with 'customers' every day, I have done for around 13 years and I can honestly say there is about 5/100 people who are genuine.

No... don't do it yourself, get the BT (or who ever) to give them an alarm call at 3am !!  ::) .

Be nice if it went like this;

"Hello Mr/Mrs/Ms/Miss ?, this is your operator calling you, as you asked us to call you at this time...... You didn't... oh sorry for wasting "your time".

Whats her number? i might invite her for dinner  ;D :D

Over the years, ive sold a few cars and ive found the best way, is never to park the car outside your house, park it up the road a bit.......it stops the 'drive by' viewings and clearing off with out knocking your door  :y

LOL....." KNOCK DOWN GINGER"....I used to play that when I was a kid  ;D ;D

Also never give your address to anyone who withholds thier munber on the 1st call.  as mentioned, tell them to ring when they are setting off and then they get the full address.

Also tell evetone there has been heaps of interest and 1st person that gets there gets the car, No appoints as such - by all means make the appointment but it is no guaratee the car will still be for sale, 1st to see will buy (means what it says)

How much did you pay for them?

always arrange viewings to suit you, not them

if you know you're gonna have a nice boring evening in watching bog all on tv, tell them they can come then

or is it just me who has plenty boring nights in watching bog all on telly?!

how's this for time wasting?? this was my fault and completely accidental!!

I have quite a bad short term memory and a dealer phoned me one lunchtime wanting to take my car that evening so i set up a meeting for that evening, several hours later someone else rings me wanting the car, desperate enough that he's starting his engine while still on the phone, ready to race over, 30 minutes later a guy turns up, i sell the car to him and off he goes, turns out he's the one who rang at lunchtime and i'd completely forgot, and as he's driving off in his newly purchased car, the other potential buyer turns up!!
