PIG UGLY. sorry.
Can't see it as anything more than a blatant "we've got the mini name and we're gonna use it to the max" exercise by BMW.

Yep, German arrogance at its worst! :o :o :o :o
How on earth can they call it a mini? :-/ :-/

Indeed. "Nobody buys BMW X3s anymore so perhaps if we call it a Mini our customers won't feel like such R.soles driving it." ;D
The car was described as strange, competent, expensive, risky, even dull - there was no consensus view.
.. but it doesn't matter if the product is sh1te if all your customers are fashion victims. Perhaps they have been taking lessons from Steve Jobs. ;D

When I came to this part I was almost sold;
the wheel arches can only be described as butch. :-* :-*
but then I realised that this was merely the bastaad child of an incestuous union so went off the idea; :( :(
Yet somehow it still looks like a member of the Mini family, the way a mother might resemble her child, or the way a teenage boy might have inherited some of his grandfather's quirky characteristics
I'll leave this one to the brain-dead afficionado's of Hello magazine, celebrity worship and reality television. :y :y

.....just like the Moggy traveller... :y :y

PIG UGLY. sorry.
I couldn't agree more. Oh hang on. I have done it again. I thought this was the Kate Silverbum thread again.
-
My 1963 Mini Countryman was half timbered!! :)
I had one that was not timbered and I thought that distinguished Countrymans from Travellers. Seems not.
-
Am reliably informed by my Dad that COUNTRYMAN's were "estates" and TRAVELLER's were "estates with wooden bits bolted on to resemble american station wagons"
Any help?

Clubmans had the wood bolted on, on Travellers the wood was structural ;) :y

Do you drive it or is it an investment?
-
Gosh...........that takes me back to my pre-teens and runs to junior school from Gramps...............
-
God that brings back nice memories Lee! :y
What you said about the wood frame being structural was spot on ;), mine was rammed up the Khyber by my drunken neighbour in his Ford Corsair at 10mph & when his brother knocked on my door to tell me and I came out to see what was what & saw the Corsair with a severely crumpled front end I nearly passed out! :D. On inspection, my Moggy had the offside lamp glasses smashed & 'scuffing' of the wood varnish but nothing else! :o, not a dent, nor a ripple nor a crack anywhere! ;D British Design at it's very best :y :y

I remember the characteristic sound of a Moggie exhaust on engine over-run......modern engines just don`t sound like that do they? ;)

Both, it does 2 runs a year. To my local and the national MMOC meets. If it has 1k added to the mileage a year it's lucky.
Philrich, the wood was replaced when I rebuilt it nearly 5 years ago, A grade ash, nearly £1k per side and near enough £500 for the 2 doors! :o

The best is coasting down a hill on over-run, turn the key off for 2 seconds and back on you get a backfire like a gunshot! Scared a few doing that in my time ;D ;D

Morris Minor travellers were structurally timbered
Morris Mini Travellers & Austin Mini Countryman had bolted on Ash timbers although they later introduced them without the wood as well

Modern engines generally exhaust through something bigger than a 22mm bit of water pipe. ;D
But yes, you're right, although on the overrun stakes I'd favour something Italian breathing through a pair of DCOEs. Popping and banging with a few flames to boot when it's dark. :-*
A little tweak of the fuel map on the Westfield and I can reproduce all sorts of overrun porn. 8-) Packing in the exhaust doesn't last long though. ;D

Give over, My pontiac had 2 3 litre capri axhausts on it, I got the full works, the nice v8 burble, the full roar of the v8 when it was angry and all the burbling and fire breating thrown in for making nice music.......... off to autotrader, back soon. ::)
-
Only one takes my fancy but it's white.
Something of interest though, look at the wheels on both side of the car, they are designed to rotate in opposite directions so they can be fitted near side and off side. Something I wish thay had done for the Lotus carlton, but never bothered.
