Hello boys and girls
I am back again!
Now, first things first, IF I offended anyone last time around which is highly likely, then I apologise. It is just me. No actual offence meant. There are reasons I might just go into later.
Anyway, for any who do not know me, My name is Fin and I am from Nottingham. I was one of the founders of the forum originally before one of my many tantrums.
I have had one or two Omegas. Lost count actually, but about 20 I think.
There is not a lot I do not know about them but my working on cars days are well and truly over.
I am now virtually wheelchairbound as my health issues got pretty bad over the last 2 years or so. I was running a driving school, but had to close that and give up driving for a while. I also had surgery on my right shoulder last year after the rotator cuff basically sheered off.
Anyway, I wanted to pop in again and say hello. I see many old faces and a lot of new ones. I was hoping Laidback would still be about as I haven't seen him for a couple of years. He owes me a kitkat I seem to remember, or is it the other way around?
Hello to Jaime, Mark, AA, and of course Hotel. I hope you are all well.
Ome thing I would love to know is if anyone knows what happened to Colin that had cancer? Is he still about? I hope so. Nice bloke.
Well, that is me for now. Come on then.... tell me what I said last time because I won't remember.
(Ducking for cover)

Welcome back RM. I've never met you but your post count is bigger than some who've been on here for years! ;D ;D ;D
Sorry to hear about the naff health stuff. I hope it takes a turn for the better.
-
Welcome back, think I was arround last time you popped back to the forum. Sorry to hear about your helth problems.
Not sure who Colin is but we lost a member last year called Willyboy, smashing guy, was the only member I have ever met on the forum and shall never forget him.
-
Welcome back Fin!! :y :y :y :y
Very sorry to hear about your health troubles and I hope it all at least settles down ;) ;) ;)
-
Wow! What a welcoime back! Crikey, you are a nice bunch.
Colin I am thinking of is Risso. He had bowel cancer and was in a very bad way when I was last here.
Those who actually know me will know a little about my health. Those that mety me may not realise so much as I was quite good at hiding pain most of the time.
I have osteoarthritis of my spine which I am sure you can imagine is painful to put it mildly. I have had several procedures to try to improve my mobility without any success. I became quite ill after taking fairly powerful medicines for 9 years and my medication was changed about 2 years ago. this did help a little with pain, but reduced my mobile function. I have used a wheelchair before so using one when I have to isn''t so bad.
Since I was last here I have had many cars as those who know me will believe. I have had a couple of Mitsubishi Shoguns, A Landrover Discovery, A Ford Galaxy (wonderful car) and a multitude of others. My current one is a Bentley Turbo R very cleverly disguised as a Renault Laguna Executive 3.0v6.
Actually the Renault has been a funny purchase. Last year I had to take my son down to exeter University for an interview. The day before, my Galaxy blew the gearbox up and I was looking for absolutely anything automatic. I looked in the loacl rag and found the Laguna at a garage for £695. I intended to do one run there and back and then flog it. Laguna? Automatic? Not two words you would normally use in the same sentence without wincing and waiting for the RAC to collect you.
Anyway, went to have a look. It looked like brand new. Top of the range, leather, cruise, Climate etc. All the Omega trimmings but they worked! (Sorry). One elderly woman owner from new, 54k and full Renault history. Tesgt drive was like driving a brand new car. £600 and I bought it.
Next day filled it with nectar, £70 nearly and off we went. Everything was loveley and it returned a pretty impressive 34mpg on the whole run.
We decided to keep it for a couple of weeks whilst I looked around. A year later almost and we still have it. I have been to Scotland 3 times in it, never done anything except put petrol in and enjoy it.
Not everones favourite car, but hell I have been lucky with this one.
Ohm actually very lucky. Someone crashed into it 3 weeks into our ownership. I say crashed, they scuffed the front bumper. Their insurers paid me £500 to go away, so I gladly accepted. It still has the scuff but it is literally a quick blow over with some paint and job's a goodun. Something i would certainly have sorted a couple of years back.
Anyway, there you go.
Yes, a coupole of years back me, Mark, Pete and Dave were regulalrly whipping engines in and out, chganging gearboxes etc on the Omegas. I did get the V6 timing belt change down to about an hour in the end. A gearbox change, about 4.
Not now I am afraid. I will gladly tell anyone what is involved, but those days are now his-tor-eeeee.
Anyway. Thanks again for teh welcome so far. I am sure someone will be along to call me a tosser any minute, but thats ok. I am one!
:)

Welcome back .. and I'll join the chorus of regrets about your health, but you seem to be facing the problems with your usual "sod it" approach .. :)
You still have a serious "claim to fame" ..... You'll be pleased to know that all your "how to's" are still in existance and still helping to keep many a poorly Omega on the road.. :y :y

Hey Jaime! Good to see you mate. Tell you what, you stick my name back how it was and restore my more than generoud post count (9000+ I believe) and I'll strangle the chicken once and for all.
Thanks to all the generous welcomes. Nick, Kevin and so may others. I am very touched.
Actually, by strangle the chicken I meant..... Ah, you know what I meant ya filthy mided animals. ;D

Hi Fin
Good to have you back. I was olive back in the early days of OOF until someone mistook my farming occupation username for a womans name. So changed it to Varche which is definitely masculine - El Varche.
You and one or two others inspired me to great? things and I have since done cambelt change, 2 gearbox change (with help from that nice Omegatoy man) ABS ECU, passenger side ex manifold etc etc,etc
sorry to hear about your health issues,
V

Welcome back to OOFland Fin (you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave) ;).........I think you left about the time I joined, but your contribution has always been very evident right up to the present, due to your excellent guides etc.
Sorry to hear about your health issues, but you at least have the right approach - stare it in the face and laugh at it.
I can vaguely remember the chap you were enquiring about, and iirc he was in a bad way approx a couple of years ago, and unfortunately I dont think has posted since then.
Hope you are staying for good this time as someone who obviously put as much time and effort in to the forum in the early days to help make it what it became should imo have the status of a respected elder and bask in some of his own well deserved glory. :y

Hang on girls. Just cutting a hole in the door frame for my swelling
Head.
-
My previous post may read as a bit ott i suppose, but I have on many occasions when reading info on the forum supplied by your good self thought it to be a great shame that (whatever the reasons) you ceased to be involved in something that you helped to start, which grew into something great. ;)

Welcome back Mc, not we spoke on this one, but sure we had words on the other Voxn, before I got told to do something, if that makes sense!
:y
-
I remember it well. You had black curly teeth and walked with a lisp.
Thanks for the welcome again. Good to see so many peeps still here that I remember and the many new ones.
-
Our founding father has returned! Hello! If it wasn't for this place I'd have probably scrapped the meggy when two of its camshaft pulleys said hi then ate each other taking the engine with them. Never been back to VXon since we moved over here. All the best with the back.

Hi Fin ...Good to have you back
-
Thanks again guys.
I don't know how you managed without me to be honest. You must have missed my modesty the most!
For anyone who doesn't know me, you will have to be razor quick to outwit me. I do go near the knuckle sometimes, but enough about my sex life.
Good to be back. Shall we start a sweepstake for how long before someone upsets me?

PMSL I wondered why STMO123 hadnt replied in your threads, he generally just rattles about in every one's thread;s trying to be funny and in some cases just stir's till member's lose thier post count's ::)

Welcome back RMB2,
I remember some of your previous exploits, engines being changed in amazing circumstances, quite a few oil coolers being done, and one sticks in my mind of a newly bought one that finished up coming home on the back of a yellow truck ;D
Sorry to hear about your back, hope it does improve. Medicine is advancing all the time, they may find a way of sorting it.
All the best,
Ken
