I think that might be honesty too far. You could have lied a little and said you werent breaking a car!!!!!!!!!111111111?

ok....im not breaking it :-[ im gonna miss it cos when it ran properly i loved it but the good didnt outway the bad.....its not gonna go completely to waste.......the money i make from selling it will fund a 2.5 v6 corsa.......... :o

I say "Oh Dear" because I wonder if you have the sense to uprate everything else, other than the engine. A V6 Corsa will require extensive modifications to the chassis, suspension and braking system before it is remotely safe to be used.
Please tell me you do!
-
well........i have the f20 manual box with 200bhp shafts,2ltr hubs,2.5v6 vectra brakes(callipers & hoses)some dot 5 brake fluid,strut braces front and rear, and most importantly...........a big angle grinder and welder! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sounds like it to me!

Say goodbye to your gearbox within weeks. You need an F23 minimum as I guess you are building this to drive it at it's potential.
Brakes should be sufficient, ensure you alter the bias...... no weight over the ass of a corsa.
Suspension and Chassis Mods?
-
what can i get f23 out of???never looked into it as i was told f20 would be plenty!ive seen a 3.0v6 with f20 and it was ok.the only chassis mods really are gonna be from the strut braces and uprated suspension......i wanna keep it low key so no roll cage!

You only need a roll cage if you plan on rolling it! ;D
You will need to strengthen the Chassis legs and the firewall area, including strut top mount fixing points. The suspension will be hit or miss. I'd advise using a good adjustable setup, so you can adjust it and get it 'right'.
F23 maybe F25, look out for (expensive and rare on the market) Cavalier V6/Calibra V6 6 Speed Variants.
EDIT: F20 = suitable for 200BHP. A 3.0V6 at factory gives 207BHP. I'd annihilate that box with a few traffic light derby's.
-
the coilover setup i got is adjustable and the strut braces bolt from strut top to strut top eradicating any excess flex...........wow, i almost sounded like i knew what i was talkin bout then!lol.i think ill take my chances with f20 for now and if it goes pop then look for the more expensive route....plus its a pain in the arse changing the gear selector gate and all the linkages!......6 speed v6 corsa....hmmmmmmmmmm
-
factory 2.5v6 only about 170ish......f20 should be ok!!!!!whoop whoop

To be fair, you have obviously done a fair bit of homework, and I'm really interested in following your progress. When you start the project, start a thread in the Gallery and keep your day to day workings there (if you have time lol). Not only will it give everyone else something to follow, it will help when you (may) need assistance, but will also provide a good diary of what you have achieved! I wish you all the best of luck in it :y

Unlikely, not with several high rev drop the clutch pull-aways. Trust me, I put four boxes in my Vectra GSi. ;)

Thank you kind sir......i actually have to admit that i been workin on cars almost 6 years solid and ive helped build....well rebuild 3x 2ltr astras,1 of which were converting to a turbo, just finished a 2ltr corsa, 1xrenault 5 gt turbo(i know i know)2 x old mini and one 1976 plate 911.......i think i now have petrol running through my veins.....this corsa will be my own tho!all mine......will defo doc it on several sites tho!j i c! :y

Not wishing to teach anyone to suck eggs but be careful with DOT 5 if the system isn't completely new or at least thoroughly cleaned with new seals.
I would go for DOT 5.1 personally. Performs just as well without the pitfalls.
Anyway, sounds like an interesting project. As said, keep us updated on progress and good luck. :y

Broomie, you are entirely correct.....Mr Trigger, an F20 'box will NOT last long, as torque through it, NOT BHP will kill it before anything else.
The whole idea of the conversion (I assume) is to make a "slightly modified" car outside have the get up and go of a leopard on steroids inside, and therfore "fool" a few idiots in hot hatches that you are easy meat for a burn around the block????
May I (humbly) suggest as somebody who has a load of experience in putting big engines in little cars that you do the weight/bias/gearing calculations FIRST, and make sure your brakes and transmission exceed the potential performance by 30% minimum, because the potential momentum/weight/BHP figures (to be safe) have to be exceeded by the braking weight over trim balance point by 25%.
Advice if you need it, just PM me. Please ensure you also seam or stitch weld the major parts of the shell too, as the stresses you intend to inflict on the shell exceed the manufacturers build construction parameters by a lot. The Corsa was never designed to accept any more than 160 BHP, and the "chassis" welding and design was not welded or strengthened sufficently to accept the added weight and torque you intend to fit.
Not telling you how to suck eggs at all, just gently advising.

love these sorts of projects, but surely its easier to either fix the omega, or stick a 3.0 or v8 in it instead?

mike....your a legend!all input is greatly recieved!that goes to all that read this post!mike.....i may pm you in the next month if thats ok???
and as for your post chrisgixer.....it may be easier fixin the miggy..........but wheres the fun in easy???? ;D :y ;D :y

I'd recommend the R25 or R28 gearbox and obtaining a rear axle from somewhere.
See the Omega/Saxo project - now that is doing it the right way.
-
rwd corsa.......nah!i may be a bit sick in the head but i dont fancy encouraging my motor to ditch into.....well.......a ditch!rwd is hard enough to handle in a decent size motor, let alone a P.O.S. corsa!!!!lol.put a link up for the mods tho martin imber....i would like to check it out! :y :y :y

This was a nice conversion, would be nice to see how the performance pans on the 2 cars.
Which member is it thats putting a 3.0 V6 in a Scimitar, that was looking like a very interesting project, anyone know how he's doing with it.
Ahh, that will be me then, sorry, only just seen this post. The Scimitar was finished May last year, scares the poop out of me and is great fun. That 3L is a gorgeous engine and sounds lovely over 4000. The Scimitar is only 1200KG's so with the 3L v6 it really pushes you back in your seat. Top speed so far tested at Mallory park was 135mph before I had to slow for the corners, best bit was that was in 4th I still had another gear to go. ;D
It got a 6 page article in Practical Performance Car magazine in I think the October edition. I took it off the road for winter, and to add some more bits to it. I'm currently transferring the multi info display and ABS/TC system. This will also then give me a proper speed signal to run the speedo. I've still got the old police estate and am still picking bits out of it, I'm definitely experienced with the intimacies of the wiring diagrams now. That Bosch 2.8.1 ECU doesn't need all that much to make it happy and report no fault codes, simple little thing really. I've got the multi info display running on my bench at the moment, complete with the light fault (current sensing) unit.

Plenty of space for cam belt changes, I need to look at it again though as it squeaks on the back of the belt where it runs over the sprung loaded tensioner when cold, only once per belt revolution? Any thoughts?
This is what I mean by intimate.

Looks at home in there doesn't it?
It's sat as low as I dare in the chassis, and the entire engine is set back behind the centre of the front axle.
The Scimitar was an auto so I had to fit the Omega clutch pedal assembly and master cylinder. It's a nice light clutch on the Omega, I was very pleased.
I also had to modify the bulkhead to get the engine to fit, so while I was at it I added a removable panel to allow access to the back of the engine for coil pack replacement and other maintenance. Also makes bell housing bolts easy to access.
Cheers
Nath

RWD is much easier to handle, and much more controllable near the limit.
And in small cars is great fun.
I used to run a tuned Sunbeam and that was silly on corners, I also once was doing 90 on loose chippings and slightly going sideways (very naughty but I was young) under complete control.
