I can remember all the fuss when he married Elizabeth Taylor, but I really can't remember him as a singer - did he have any hits in this country?

Thanks - don't recall any of those.  Presumably "Oh my Papa" was a cover of O mein Papa which I remember as an instrumental hit (for Eddie Calvert - I've just looked it up).   On the other hand, I can still remember some of the lyrics, so maybe I did know the Eddie Fisher version.

But the last of his hits was before my time.  The first record I ever bought was Sidesaddle by Russ Conway, and that was 1959 (I've just checked).

interesting ... that site you list shows  "Everything I Have is Yours" as a UK hit for him, but my version of the Guiness Book of Hit Singles" doesn't show that one .. :(

Still think his best was 'Here in my heart'. At least I think that was what it was called, it was the first line of it anyway.

Or would have been if he'd recorded it. :-[ :-[ :-[

I think it was actually done by Al Martino.
