Title: Cheap way to keep the kids amused
Post by: Nickbat on 05 May 2007, 22:04:24
Took the kids swimming today and on the way back stopped at Woolies.

To my surprise, they are selling Microsoft Train Simulator for just £4!

Bought it, got home and loaded the discs and spent the next hour figuring out how to get the steam engine to move (should have read the engineer's manual, I suppose). Anyway, abandoned the steam engine and got the diesel running. It kept the little ones suitably amused for a good half-hour! They later left the thing unattended and it ploughed into Settle station at 80mph plus. :o

Might have to check this program out for myself tonight, just to make sure it's entirely suitable for the kids, you understand!. ;)

The kids love it.  :y

Of course being me, I had to switch on the realistic options but I haven't a clue what to make of the injector 1 & 2 steam and water flows, or whether my cylinder cocks should be open or closed. :o

Still managed to get the Flying Scotsman moving along the Carlisle -Settle route.

The views are really rather good, as to is the sound. Can't go wrong for four quid!

What I will do is when I next capture some material - I'll encode 5 minutes or so and torrent it out so people can see.

Done the doors, just needs a roof.

three storey 5 doors, for two PITA bunnies. Then 2 guinea pigs get the old hutch and the other two rabbits get the whole of the original hutch.

Well they are cheap to buy, but then add in food, bedding, housing, garden damage >:(. and the fact that rabbits are standoffish - only one will actually have fuss. when I was a young I had a pet cat - much more fun to have, and friendlier.

At least if the children moan we can offer them rabbit for tea [smiley=evil.gif]
