I was sad to see that ,alongside the recent deaths of Tony Curtis and Norman wisdom, the soul legend Solomon Burke died today. So much more to his music than "Cry to me" or "Everybody" that most people know from Dirty Dancing and the Blues Brothers .

RIP Solomon Burke.... yes another good singer but his music will still be played jerry :(

If you have never heard of this man, the list of collaborations and songwriting credits will blow you away.
He wrote HUNDREDS of songs for other people, and co-wrote songs for all the more well-known soul artists too.
Although he "only" had a few hits in his own name, the credits for royalties must have been extremely long and distinguished.
out of interest, he was one of the few people that Stevie Wonder said he admired, and Aretha franklin described him as "massively influential".
Yet few of us have heard of him???
RIP Solomon.
