About taking driving lessons again and try and past for the 3rd time I'm a bit scared with taking the theory and the other test but can't rememeber it now,
I did past my first theory test but was 10 or so years ago now ::)
-
Once you get back into Maria you will be fine! ;)
I have recently pursuaded a friend to return to driving lesson after she failed three tests many years ago. The difference is I advised her to learn in automatics, which is working well. It has been much easier for her, and she is already looking around for a automatic car! 8-) 8-) 8-)
Just a case Maria of getting back in the saddle and relaxing, just enjoying the driving. You'll pass before you know it :D :D :y

No offence intended Maria.......but perhaps it's best to leave driving to the professionals.....men.... ;) :-* :-* :-*
-
Thanks for your reassuring Lizzie, I was thinking of doing my lessons in a automatic as i think it be better for me but did my last lessons and tests in a manual and found the gears was ok to master when i got the hang of it.yeah I hope i do but they are making it a lot harder for you to pas these days not like it was yrs ago

My sister went this route Maria.....gear and clutch coordination proved too much for her smaller female brain... ::)....Well...she passed...but is now only allowed to drive an automatic..... ;) :-* :-* :-*

you'll have to re-take your Theory again, it will have expired by now. Its a combination of multiple choice questions and hazard perception videos. I had to take this for my bike test, there is a certain 'method' for passing this video section, as you click the mouse when you see a danger. But you have to click in the right bit, i found 'batch' clicking 3/4 times worked well :)
Depends how you are on coordination, but Automatics are easy :)

Maria, not much idea about the tests involed there,
but I can say a few words for the car you will buy..
go for an auto , small car which also have rear parking sensors.. practise with simulators for some time.. and practise with someone on non-crowded roads..and dont go in mad traffic unless you are confident with the car.. many of my woman friends from job have trouble in heavy traffic (and passed real bad experiences) .. so I feel the necessity to warn you..sorry :y
-
Not Commenting. :-X ::)
-
Well cem i have had two tests before and was OK with traffic and done well on my last test but the reason me falling was i doing a parallel parking and i went to far back and didn't bring the car forward enough so he faild me and I thought just give up which i did , silly me because when i get over my nerves i 'm ok with driving and enjoy it , dont have be sorry and know what your saying

well i would never buy a manual again unless it was a van or sports car. auto all the time for me
-
See I'd say even if you're only going to drive an automatic (or think you are) .. do your test in a manual car and learn how to drive a manual car - if nothing else it means you can:
Hire a van should you ever need to shift stuff
Hire a car without having to hunt around for an automatic (which can be hard when you're on holiday in certain places)
Arguably buy a cheaper-to-run manual runaround
etc
And most importantly.. you won't have to have your left leg amptuated!*
(*I lied about that last part, you don't really have to have your leg amputated just to drive an automatic)

That is fine for many of us, but for some like TWO of my friends, and I think Maria, it is a no go. They waste a lot of time and money on lessons and tests trying to get over the technicallitiies of manual driving but just cannot master it.
So why not take the easy option, save a lot of money, and get on the road with one of the excellent auto's now available?

Go for it Maria!
If you live in a big city or near a congested motorway, and it sounds as if you do, an automatic is the best drive anyway IMHO. And you can always take the manual test later if you feel like it.
When the time comes, pm me and I'll send you something that will help calm the nerves. And yes, it is legal, and no it isn’t alcohol! :y

Auto is a good idea..i have a company car which is a manual and the omega is auto and i prefer the auto...but i have done a lot of driver training they do say supprisingly enough a auto is a whole more lot difficult to drive than a manual if you are driving a auto correctley...i can honestley say as well i never have understood that statement and i am trained to teach to advanced standard...So yeah go for a auto much better imho :y

The biggest problem I can see with going for an auto-only license is that it narrows your choice of used cars quite dramatically.
Autos are also rare among the smaller cars so you might end up having to go for something larger and thirstier than would fit your needs. (and small auto cars are generally tedious, IME)
I would find a driving school that can do both, and see how you get on in a manual first. :y
