No I have not joined Tunnie in the organ donor maker ranks but put simply I have fitted a helmet cam to my cycling helmet to capture the numerous examples of poor driving I see on my daily commute.
Okay the first one is pretty meagre but it's a start. I also would have had a woman driving today whilst on her phone with 2 kids in the back if the bracket had not have moved.

The police are aware and will be monitoring the account, they have told me this is legal :y
Bookmark my Youtube account for future releases :y
-
Legal it may be, but I am concerned over your claim that the police will be monitoring your account. Am I to understand that you will be a video informant? :-?
-
Ooh I could tell you some storys....
But no running red lights etc if your on your own camera. :-X
Plus, if it was me, I would be nearer the kerb, and would defo have looked over my right shoulder when going through that width restriction...rightly or wrongly....?
-
Done. 8-) :y :y
-
I should have been more specific. This is MOD land and the Mod Plod will be monitoring the output. They cannot do anything with the video as it cant be used in court but they might, if serious enough, use it to have a chat or send a letter to the driver concerned. I want to publically shame those with poor driving standards and also have something so that next time I am knocked off my bike I can show it to the insurance company.
The main goal is to deter drivers in my local area from driving dangerously so that an incident like that which happened to my family does not befall somebody else. :y

Trust me, I obey every single rule of the road when cycling. It's a principal I have, there is nothing more annoying than seeing cyclist breaking the rules of the road >:(
And the angle of the camera makes it look like I am further out than I actually am. During this shot I am no more than a fott and a half from the kerb

Two wheeled revolution.......... but don't most wheels revolve? ;)

If they think it's not admissable I think they should learn their job! I can't see that it breaks the rules of evidence.
Having worked with mod plod and civvy police, i doubt very much they'll be monitoring it!

Thats a very broad sweeping statement to make. It's like saying everyone called Geoff is an ass......

It's not a broad sweeping statement, it's my assessment based on a wealth of personal experience, which you obviously disagree with, so you have resorted to pathetic childish insults.
If you're sad enough to go round with a camera on your head and complain about other peoples behaviour I'd suggest you need to get a life.
It appears you relish looking for bad behaviour with your 'holier than thou' attitude!
The phrase 'people police' springs to mind.
Good day.

I have my reasons for doing this which go a lot deeper than whatever feelings you have of how well the MOD plod do their job or not, so I suggest you take your unhelpful comments elsewhere.

So that justifies and excuses your insults?
We've all got our sob stories, in any case, what the hell do you think you know about me that makes you think your reasons are alot deeper than mine?
Apology accepted by the way.
Trying to hi-light and correct an error, as far as I'm aware, isn't unhelpul.
I suggest you take your insults elsewhere.

Think you need to set the time and date on your camera though Guffer, looks to me like that footage was taken on 20th March 2008..... ::) ::) ::)

You're proving my point, thanks!
I'm not surprised they tried to palm you off by giving you duff info!
It's sad that you actually have that picture, ready to post up.
I hope for everyone elses sake that you the Chief Constable of people police abide by all relevant laws when riding your push bike on the road, and don't display the arrogant attitude you have here.

There are 3 very good reasons for me doing this none of which are your business. I have discussed them on here a couple of times but needless to say that I cycle within every rule of the road and very defensively.
I am not sure what duff info you are talking about, if you elaborate I can ask the MOD plod officer tommorrow at work. He works down the corridor.
If you think I am sad then how about someone trying to poo-poo another person trying their best to prevent a) his own death and b) a local family going through the heartbreak of losing one of their kids to some idiot on the road. Because if saving one life is possible I'll do it regardless of any negative comments and attempts to demoralise me that I receive. Now kindly move along, I have more important people to spend my time with.

Interesting stuff gaffers, usable as evidence or not, if you get knocked off you bike and it's video'd then it makes a case easier to win.
I would be tempted ti sycronise two camera's and fit one to the front of the bike and one to the rear of the bike as well as having the head cam.
Will make some interesting viewing, and with the camera's at sub £10 I think is worth the effort.
-

Yeah I realised that when posting it, it obviously lost all charge and reverted to factory defaults ;)
-
i keep meaning to attach my little video camera to my bicycle helmet, although its not a best idea as i usually ignore all road signs and lights ::)

I have thought about that but a full get up with 2 cameras is £500+
I heard about a case with another cyclist who was doing this who had a young woman turn right directly in front of him. The incident put him in hospital and wrote off the bike. The insurance company started to fight his claim but once they saw the footage they paid out in full :y
Note: I said not if I get knocked off but when. Even with me riding defensively and abiding by all the rules I still know it is a matter of time before I end up on the gravel again :(

I could respond, as you are wrong.
But as you said, I have more important people to spend my time with.

I stop for the big junctions though ::)
Its by far the quickest way to work, can do it in under 20 mins if there is no head wind. Feeling better with each shift, when i first started i had to change down for hills, no more, power along in top gear :)
Noticed i am using less and less water too, not to mention its a free way of getting to work! :D

It is a nice feeling when you can do all the hills on your commute 'dancing' on the handle bars without sitting back on the saddle for a rest. I rehydrate at work because as long as you are hydrated to begin with you can do 30 mins intense activity before you get dehydrated.
My commute is only 4.5 miles but I can do that in 9 mins door-to-door (not bad for a bloke who weighs 17.5 stone) I often add on a little more to make it a 30 min session. The same journey in a car takes 6-7 mins and costs £20 a week in fuel. Cycling is free....ish :y

If you're doing 4.5 miles in 9 mins, 'a little bit more' must be around an extra 10 miles ....... :-? :-?

I think it's a good thing what you're doing to be honest :y I don't have an issue with cyclists as long as they obey the rules, as with other cars really. Nazi cyclists are the ones who bug me >:(
