The European Commission has put forward proposals for direct EU taxes on member states, including a possible EU-wide value-added tax (VAT).

I foresee trouble ahead. This would be a step too far, even for the EU. Of course, we all voted for the members of the European Commission didn't we? [/sarc off].

Thank the Lord that "The UK, Germany and France have all rejected the idea of direct EU taxes." :y :y
We need david cameron to ask or better to tell us what we get for our £432
approx per household that we contribute and in return get about £300 back. Of the major EU countries only Spain gets more back than it contributes.
Mind you he is too busy making cuts to bother with EU matters.
