Title: What happened to them
Post by: skyblue on 01 December 2010, 21:09:21
Does anybody know if there is a website  that shows when cars have been scraped ???????

as I would like to find out if some of my old motors are still going

Use the DVLA database here:

http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/application?origin=vnav_bar.jsp&event=bea.portal.framework.internal.refresh&pageid=Vehicle+Enquiry

Type in the reg and it will tell you if it's currently taxed (i.e on the road)  :y

EDIT: Link amended as the one shown above times  out.

Go here http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/ and select "Vehicle enquiry" on the left.

I had to copy and paste the first part of the link as the whole link has apparently experienced a time out! Cool link though, I'd forgotten about that!  :y

It looks like 'my' Senator is still around, but just not on the road.
My Dad's 1949 however now looks to be taxed, it sat in his garage for many a year.

Sorry for the confusion. Just click the link below then click on "Vehicle Enquiry" (from the left-hand menu), then type in reg and make.  :y

That is a great site!!

I have just checked one of our old company cars, Vauxall Carlton 1.8GL C796 TPF, that we bought from the company and kept for nearly 14 years.

Cannot tell if it is still living, as it is untaxed currently.  Also what does "Date of Liability" mean? :-/ :-/

That's the date the tax/SORN is due to run out (or last ran out if it's in the past)  :y

My old Renault 19 16v is dead, it seems  :'( and I can barely remember the reg of any of my old cars apart from that..

You can't know for sure - but logically if it hasn't been taxed or declared SORN (both of which show up there) then it must have been scrapped.

Either that or someone is continually getting fined for not SORNing it.. ;D
