About my foot,

I tripped over it a few weeks ago - agony.
Not very comfortable to walk either.
So I will be getting an operation, done by a private hospital for the NHS.
On a general
They cut open the toe, remove the last joint and pin it straight, pin stays in for 6 weeks or so.
I will have to keep the foot raised.
Getting worried now!

If the toe is big enough to trip over Martin, its best attended to before it 'does' for you. :y :y

Was always told as a young plooky proby that the only place you can find sympathy in this big bad world was between shit and syphillis in the office dictionary.... ;D

Cant understand why its going to be done under general anaesthetic tbh, far better with a local. could be out of hospital and on your way home an hour ofter the op. :-/

A mate has just had both feet done, 4 toes on each at the same time. Just had to take care not to kick the cat. All fine now. Good luck :y :y :y

This post has just set me thinking Martin! For Gawds sake make sure they mark the proper foot to operate on BEFORE they put you to sleep!!! :D
It's not as far fetched as it sounds! swmbo damaged her Median nerve in her left wrist & the daft buggers were going to operate on her Right! >:(

I think that some of these comments are getting really
corn-y and I think that you are being very callus. :D

Another good reason to stay awake during the op. :)
I had a bone removed a few years ago from the toe next to my big toe. It was the bone from the foot to the first joint of the toe, so its just held on by skin now.
The sound and smell of the little Dremel type cutting tool was a bit unnerving tbh, but I was home a couple of hours later with crutches and some painkillers. If it had been general anesthetic it would have been a more involved and drawn out episode.

I will have to keep the foot raised.
I have had mucho leg & ankle surgery - the call to keep the foot raised is of vital importance, don't think you can get away with less than 99% of the time. I "just carried on as usual" after the first op and am now deeply regretting it.... damaged veins being one of the problems.
Best wishes for the op.

Not gruesome like that - just looks odd
-
I used to work in the theatres, Kays wires we used to call them which you might find one poking out the end of your toe. You should check out the toolkit they use, made of titanium but weirdly, the drill bit's came from B&Q!
Seriously nowt to fret over, simple op.
-
All the best Martin - things will go well, I have no doubt. :y

Lovely clear 'four toes' Martin ;D :y
-
Don't worry. I'm a total wuss but my hernia op was done on the private through the NHS earlier this year. This means it's routine otherwise you'd be in the big house. You're treated as well as a paying patient. You'll come round in your own en suite room with freeview telly. I was home the same day, faultless.
The nurses are a bonus too!!! You'll be fine really, Guy. :y
-
Very itchy now, the wire hurts the end of toe 4 :'( :'( :'( :'(
-
hope you will recover soon :y
-
Bandage off, hospital plaster on now.
Some stitches in the top (now covered) still have pin in for another 4 to 5 weeks.
Nice and straight and back to a PAIR of sandals rather than sandal and blue shoe.
It is about 5mm to 8mm shorter than its counterpart.
Will put picture up later nothing gruesome (that was Jimbobs nipple)
-
Easier to drive now as well - don't have to cruise control everywhere!
-
Splendid news Martin. :y
-
Thanks to everyone.
Snow is very cold when it goes between sock and sandal. I like Stone Creek ones ;D ;D ;D ;D
