As I recall the BMW Z1 came with similar doors from the factory, although they didn't go all the way into the floor - as this video demonstrates (not exactly work safe, but it is a clip from Top Gear so it was broadcast safe..)

That appears to be extemely good, but the only thing to concern me is will the folding away door be jammed in the event of an accident, more than a standard door? Would it be more difficult for the emergency services to get it open?
I love the concept though, which seems to resolve many issues we have with the standard doors! 8-) 8-) 8-)

I have to say that I quite fancied that. 8-) 8-) :-* :y

No B post on the MR2, either - the roll protection is the windscreen (big steel hoop in the A pillar) and the back end of the car.. so if you're going to roll it.. duck!
(Actually I've seen plenty of MR2s upside down and the A pillar stands up extremely well)

errr....I think thats from one of JC's tremendous DVDs rather than Top Gear - if that was broadcast the Beeb would still be fielding complaints 10 years on ;D ;D
-
Fair point, you could be right there.. :D I saw JC and assumed Top Gear (because who buys his DVDs, anyway!?)
-
Wherever it came from, it was gratefully received. :y
