Did anyone else watch this last night on Film4?
I thought it was a great film until about 20 mins from the end. Woody Arrelson was killed earlier by Shurgar (wasn't he just great!).
After the adverts, loads of people dead at the motel. Who killed the cowboys mother in law?Shurgar or the Mexicans? What happened to the money? Why did Tommy Lee Jones............
In fact what the ***** hell actually happened at the end.? ;D :-? :-?

Yeah.....I couldn't work that out either, well the beer stopped me from working it out, weird though
-
I did like the shotgun with the silencer, nice bit of kit ! He was defo a bad B*****d though :o

LOL how strange is that? we watched it and then were so disappointed by the ending!! the rest of the film was great especially the beginning where he found the gear and had to escape when he went back to take water to the wounded guy,
but we have noticed a fair few films have this type of ending now, anyone else noticed it?

Saw it 2 or 3 years back. Started well, but kind of fizzled out I thought...

Yep.
I went to the cinema to watch it. Never a cheap process what with the prices and the wife's insistance of a dustbin full of Sprite and popcorn.
I'll echo all the comments about the ending. Just kinda left me thinking WTF? :-?
We've got it on DVD, but have never bothered to watch it. Might have to stick it on tonight, see if we 'get it' second time around?

I like films that need some degree of thinking about, and tend to love films that get people talking. Thats probably why I think Inception is probably the best film I've seen this year.
-
I like mission to mars, it was on the other day although it was censored, that's not right
-
I think I've got every Coen bros film on DVD
Hudsucker, Millers Crossing, Fargo, Big Lebowski and O, Brother.... are some of my favourite films of all time....in fact, I have yet to see a bad film from the Coens :y

Just saw True Grit (the remake) today and it was fantastic, a must-see imo
Saw Tron Legacy the other day too and that was excellent geek porn, although only those who are proper geeks will get all the references :y

sounds like another gem from the Coens- on my list to see :y

IMO " no country for old men" is probably one of those very rare occasions where the film is nearly as good as the book.
-
Was thinking of inception as I read this through and sure enough, it's been mentioned. Struggling to think of a deeper story line. Layered in fact, defo worth a look.
And likewise watched no country a while back, can't remember any fudflement over the ending.... In fact I can't remember the ending at all.... ::). Good, another film to watch. ;D. :y
Might still be on the ps3 actually. :-X

I watched No Country For Old Men and left the room for 2 mins near the end, came back in and could not make head nor tail of it, especially when Tommy Lee Jones was sitting in the room where the hitman was hiding and then it just cuts to something else..... then at the end a car crash and the guy limps off - it was all over the place. I hate films that leave the story unfinished.

Some peeps like the story spoon fed on a plate, some peeps like endings that provoke thought, and are less certain. Either is valid :y

Ok, the film had a complicated ending for experts and older folk who drift off to sleep and don't care.
In that case I was a bit disappointed maybe even old fashioned!! ;D ;D I did enjoy Die Hard 4.0 (for the thrid time!) Now that was a film with a beginning, middle and an end.!

Ignoring the technical aspects, and whether they were valid, I though Die Hard 4 was the worse of the franchise... ...though its an annual tradition here to watch all 4 between xmas and New Year - guessing we'll start tonight.
Another tradition is to watch Lord of the Rings back to back over a couple of days once every 3 or 4 years. Extended editions. That was an ordeal.
